How can we transition from quick book desktop to quick book online?

Welcome to the Community, Sumbal.

When converting from QuickBooks Desktop to Online, we need to check the file size of your QuickBooks Desktop company file to ensure it meets the requirements for the conversion. Also, you have to review your data and decide what information you want to move to QuickBooks Online. Let me discuss this in detail and walk you through the process.

Transitioning from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online involves a few steps. Here’s a concise guide:

  1. Check File Size Requirements:
    1. Ensure your QuickBooks Desktop is up-to-date.
    2. Press Ctrl+1 to check the total targets (should be less than 750,000).
    3. Print your Sales Tax Liability report for adjustment entries later.
  2. Export Your Data from Desktop:
    1. Open QuickBooks Desktop, and select your company file.
    2. Go to File, and click the Utilities in the dropdown.
    3. Choose Export, then select Export Company File to QuickBooks Online.
  3. Sign In to QuickBooks Online:
    • Sign in as an admin to your QuickBooks Online account.

For a comprehensive guide to the process, I recommend referring to this article: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.

Please note that you have 60 days from the creation date of your QuickBooks Online account to move your data.

You may check out this article for additional information on moving from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online: Learn how features and data move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.

If you have further questions about the migration process from QuickBooks Desktop to Online, please feel free to reach out. I will be checking this thread from time to time. Have a productive day!
