How do I create a job profitability detail report in QBO?

Creating a job profitability report detail is easy, JBAtlanta.

Let's run the Project Profitability report to modify and view the details needed. Here's how:

  1. Go to Projects on the left pane.
  2. Double-click the project name.
  3. Under Project reports, select Project Profitability.
  4. Click Customize.
  5. Filter the details you'd like to see.
  6. Once done, click on Run report.

How do I create a job profitability detail report in QBO?

I haven't been able to get the report to look like the job profitability report in QBD.  I need a report that I can see the Actual costs vs the amount we have billed for already, and see the difference.  This shows me at a glance what I have to bill for, so I can see if there are any other vendor invoices I might need to get into the system.  I was able to see all of the costs, just not what we have billed for

Thank you for getting back to us here in the Community, @JBAtlanta

I'll gladly share some information with you. Currently, running a report that shows both the Actual costs and the amount that has been billed already is unavailable.

As a workaround, let's run the Project Profitability report mentioned above and the Sales by Product/Service Detail report. We can export them to excel and combine them into one to view the information you needed.

Here's how to pull up the report for your billed transactions:

  1. Run the Sales by Product/Service Detail report from the Reports menu.
  2. Select Customize and choose Filter.
  3. Check off the Transaction Type box and then choose Invoice as the transaction type (or whatever transaction type you'd like).
  4. Tick Run report.

Here's how to export the reports:

  1. After you run the report. At the top right of the report, select the Export icon. Then choose Export to Excel.
  2. Save the file somewhere you can easily find, like your Downloads folder or your desktop.

You can visit this article to know the specific ways to customize your reports: Common custom reports in QuickBooks Online.

If you have any further concerns about running reports, don't hesitate to post them here. Have a great day!

Looks like this "work around" only works for one job at a time.
