How do I create a report that lists all transactions - and I want to be able to filter by location and class?

It seems that while the location field is available in a transaction report, the class info is not available for filtering. TIA

Hello there, @mboonzaayer.

Let me help you run a report in QBO that shows all transactions with the location "A" and class "Class 1" or any of its sub-classes.

To start, you'll have to filter and add the location and class then group the transactions by location to label the transactions. I also suggest adjusting the report period as it could be the reason why only a few sub-classes are shown in the report.

Here's how:

Go to Reports, and type in the search field Transaction Detail by account.
Switch to classic view.
Select Customize, and Filter the Report period.
In the group by section, select Location.
Select Filter, and then add the class and location.
Click Run report.

I know of a report that can be customized according to your preference, mboonzaayer.

It's indeed true that including the class in the transaction list is unavailable. However, you can access the Transaction Detail by Account to view all of your data with the location and class included.

Here's how:

Go to the Reports menu located at the left navigation panel.
In the search bar, type Transaction Detail by Account and click that.
Scroll up and press the Customize option.
Hit the Filter dropdown and tick the Class and Location.
Once you're done, press Run Report.

You can also refer to this material to learn more about customizing your data: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.

Furthermore, you may also export reports, lists, and other data from QuickBooks Online in case you want to open it with your Excel.

Thank you! This is a good first step. But I'm hoping you can help me further. We have 4 top level classes, and hundreds of sublevel classes. I'd like to run a report that shows all the transactions where the location is "A" and the class is "Class1" and any of it's sub-classes. In this example, nothing in Class1 should ever be assigned to Location "A", and this report would help us identify these transactions. The Transaction Detail by account report only allows for selecting 10 or so classes. Is there a way to accomplish this?
