How do I get the running balance to show in my register?

Hello,

If the running balance is not showing or showing N/A, it's because it's being sorted by something OTHER than date.  Click on the Date column so it has the arrow on top of it and you should get your running balance back.

Also make sure RUNNING BALANCE is checked as a column in the small gear icon in the register.

Good day, @pkvogel.

I can help you show the running balance on your register.

  1. Click Accounting.
  2. Choose Chart of Account
  3. Click the Setting (Gear) icon above the Action column.
  4. Put check marks on the QuickBooks Balance and Bank Balance boxes.

That should do it, pkvogel. For future use, I'll share with you some other helpful articles about configuring the Register:

How do I get the running balance to show in my register?

I want to know how to see the daily running balance in quickbooks checking when I go to “Cash Flow” and click on “Quickbooks Checking.”. I’m not talking about looking at a bank register.  I can manually add to and delete items in the bank register.  I want to see my daily running balance just like I used to with Chase.  I would then reconcile the Chase balance with my register.

Thanks for adding your concern in this forum, @majorx37. You can see the Bank balance when you go to your Banking page.

From there, see the bank balance in blue tile, and your QuickBooks balance below it. Check out this screenshot for your reference:

Here's an article that contains a step-by-step guide in reconciling your actual bank statement with your QuickBooks transactions.

I'm always here to guide you more if you need further help in managing your bank transactions and balances. Take care!

How do I get the running balance to show in my register?

I want to see the daily running balance not the current balance.  When I go to cash flow and then quickbooks checking there is no daily running balance.

How do I get the running balance to show in my register?

Hello there, majorx37.

Viewing the daily balance from QuickBooks Checking helps us know how our daily balances are going.

The daily running balance will generate once transactions from QuickBooks Checking/ payments are cleared. If so, we can contact our Payment Support Team for further assistance. They can promptly show how to generate the daily running balance and share ways to view them. Here's how:

  1. Click the (?) Help
  2. icon and enter Talk to a human (then type it again when prompted).
  3. When asked by the bot, enter your concern.
  4. Select I still need a human, then proceed with Contact us or Get help from a human.

We can also utilize these resources to learn more about handling transactions from a QuickBooks Checking account.

Post your other concerns if there are any, especially if you need help viewing balances and managing transactions in QuickBooks.

How do I get the running balance to show in my register?

You've got my back to make sure your running balances will display on the register, nuruzaman.

The Running Balance box may be marked unchecked. I can walk you through how to display the column back on your register in no time!

To review your AP on a cash basis Balance sheet, you can follow the steps:

  1. Go to Reports.
  2. Locate and open the Trial Balance report.
  3. Select the amount listed for the Accounts Payable account to open the Transaction Report for that account.
  4. Make sure the reporting period matches your Balance Sheet report.
  5. Select Run report.

To verify the amount in the Trial Balance report you can pull up a quick report of Account Payable.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Accounting tab on the left panel and choose Chart of Accounts.
  2. On the Filter, by name tab, you can type Account Receivable.
  3. From View register drop selects Run Reports.
  4. Make sure the Report period matches the Balance sheet report.
  5. Review the total amount of the last transaction if it matches the total balance in the Balance sheet.

You can refer to this article on how to resolve A/R or A/P balances on a cash-basis Balance Sheet.

In addition, you'll want to check out this article on how you customize your other reports in QBO. You'll also have the option to memorize them to save their customized settings.

Let me know if you need further help showing up your running balance. I'm always here to help! Have a great rest of the day!
