How do I transfer to a new accountant?

Hi there Beth. It's my pleasure to guide you on how to transfer your client's file to a new accountant.

You can easily move your client from one profile to another. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA) as a primary admin.
  2. Go to the Gear icon, then tap on Transfer clients.
  3. Review the profile in the Transfer to section. This is the profile you want to move clients to. To choose a different one, select Change firm and then the profile. Then select Next.
  4. In the Transfer from section, select the profile you want to move clients from. Then select Next.
  5. Select the checkboxes for the clients you want to move to. You can select everyone or specific clients, including wholesale clients.
  6. When you're ready, select Transfer clients.

Otherwise, your client can remove your name as an accountant from the Manage Users page, then invite the new accountant.

  1. The client must log in to QBO as the primary admin.
  2. Go to the Gear icon in the upper right to select Manage users.
  3. Navigate to the Accounting firms tab and look for the accountant you wish to remove.
  4. Click the drop-down arrow in the Action column and choose Delete.
  5. Choose Delete to confirm the action.

I'm adding this link on how to invite a new one: Invite an accountant to review your accounting in QuickBooks Online.

You can also read through these guides about managing user roles, permissions, and know the tasks each user can do in the company:

Lastly, here's how you can keep track of your clients' files in QBOA: Manage clients in QuickBooks Online Accountant.

Let me know if you have any other questions about moving clients to a new accountant. I'm just a post away to help. Wishing you a good one!
