Hi Same problem as many other users with the stupid 2 way verification. The solution you post does not work because that is not for QB, the issue has to be addressed by QB, don't you have a person with the knowledge to fix that? I have the same issue in chrome, IE, Edge.

So stop spamming all people with this bogus solution.--->How to Remove Captcha-Verification.systems Pop-ups [Chrome, Firefox, IE, Edge]

You are right, and this is super annoying, along with QBO signing you out every hour, even though it is set to 3.

We should have the choice to turn it off.

My employee, who works graveyard for me, could not do any work because QB insisted on sending a verification text, even though it has always been turned off.

No new browser, nothing changed. I left the books I had been using up for him, but of course it signed out, not in (3) hours, in less than (1) hour.

My employee does not have my phone, so now I lost a nights work, and payroll at year- end.

Thank you very much.

What kind of plan is this?

It isn't bad enough what has become of was was once some great software, and now this?

We need to be able to turn this garbage off, or at least add multiple phones.

Even banks give you choices.

Really just exhausting.

Thank you for sharing your concerns here with us in the Community. I'll be sure to take note of them, Unicomp.

QuickBooks Online's time-out function is designed for the security of your data especially when you're away from your computer for several minutes or hours. When you set your timeout duration to a specific setting (1, 2, or 3 hours), you'll remain signed in that long before being logged out for inactivity.

Also, QuickBooks Online measures your time of inactivity from the last time you moved your mouse, clicked, or used your keyboard on any transaction form. If you are timed out, sign back into your company to continue where you left off.

To prevent this from happening, you can set your account's time-out preference on the Account and Settings page.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear Icon.
  2. Choose Account and Settings.
  3. Select the Advanced menu.
  4. Scroll down to the Other Preferences section.
  5. Click the Pencil Icon.
  6. In the Sign me out if inactive for drop-down, select 3 hours.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Hit Done

You can check out this article for your reference: Change the timeout duration in QuickBooks Online

Additionally, I've also included this reference for a compilation of articles you can use while working with us: Help Articles for QuickBooks Online.

Keep me posted if you have other questions about QuickBooks. I'll be here to help in any way that I can. Stay safe.

How, in God's name, do I turn off this stupid 2 step verification and recaptcha process? The support people are not answering and I can't change the settings.

Jumping on this band wagon two years later.  I didn't have this problem until a few months ago.  Every time I log into quickbooks I have to enter my password, confirm I'm not a robot, enter my password again, then wait for a verification code.  Two step verification is OFF! OFF! OFF!  My boss doesn't need to go throuh this rigamarole, and he doesn't need to login nearly as often as I do.  What gives Quickbooks?  Every year the price for your piece of crap program goes up by leaps and bounds, but you can't provide a worthy product when all your users are giving you much feedback with what is wrong with it!  So, why is this question marked resolved when the problem clearly still exists?

Hello there, @shampton. I'm here to help you turn off the two-step verification and ReCaptcha process when logging in to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

I can see how infuriating it is to deal with this two-step verification and ReCaptcha issue, and I know how important it is to get this resolved right away. In QBO you'll encounter the two-step verification process due to several factors like the device, network, or browser you use to log in to Intuit programs. If we're unable to establish a high confidence of trust based on these factors, you'll be asked to confirm your identity to ensure you're the one accessing the account.

On the other hand, if you're sure that you're using a trusted device, you'll be asked to verify your identity based on external factors, such as an ad blocker. That said, you can either add the *.intuit.com domain to your ad blocker's allow list, or disable your ad blocker for the *.intuit.com domain.

Then, you can refer to the steps below to turn the two-step verification for QBO:

  1. Log in to your Intuit account.
  2. Next, select Sign in & security.
  3. Then, click 2-step verification.
  4. From there, turn off the Use 2-step verification switch.
  5. Input your account password, then select Continue.

For reference, please read this article: Verify your QuickBooks Online account with multi-factor authentication or two-step verification.

Also, since the CAPTCHA or robot page is from your internet browsers, you can check out this link for the steps in removing it in your browser: How to Remove Captcha-Verification.systems Pop-ups [Chrome, Firefox, IE, Edge].

The program also allows you to change the time-out duration of your QBO account. For detailed instructions, check out this link: Change the timeout duration in QuickBooks Online.

If you have any other concerns about signing in to your QBO account, please don't hesitate to post again here. I'll be always ready to lend a hand. Have a good one.

And there you have it -- could it be that QuickBooks employees are illiterate?  Did you not read where I wrote that the 2-step verification option is OFF! OFF! OFF! Please take the resolved OFF this matter is it most certainly has not been resolved.  Unlike you, I can and did read the previous suggestions on the board.  I have verified repeatedly that the 2-step verification is set to OFF in our settings.  Maybe I'm asking the wrong question, because I have to go through FOUR steps to log into QuickBooks -- password, captcha, password, verification code.  Ridiculous! Please pass this issue on to the employees that know their ABCs.

Ha! And after posting this reply, I got an Intuit Award and promoted! How ridiculous that Intuit awards you for frequent notification of where their product fails -- too bad that's awards don't equate to a discount on deficient software.

How, in God's name, do I turn off this stupid 2 step verification and recaptcha process? The support people are not answering and I can't change the settings.

These responses from quickbooks are bogus. Everyone in this thread has already tried "screen-sharing" and "requesting a callback." What a load of crap. You might as well say, "please contact us for a minimum 1 hour game of chase your tail." You people are trying to connect us with employees that can do just about as much as you can/are to fix this issue (if you are wondering, you are doing 0, zip, zilch). It is the end of May of 2024 and this problem still exists. I am just barely switching from Quickbooks Desktop to quickbooks online because I am being FORCED to. It has a been a nightmare and the UNRESOLVED two factor problem is just one of the many intricacies in that nightmare. I miss when quickbooks actually focused on the customer experience. Haven't seen that since the early 2000s.

For the people that are not going to help fix this, let me help you understand the problem. Even though 2 factor authentication is turned OFF, yes you read it, OFF! (off means not on, disactivated etc.) Quickbooks CONTINUES to require two factor authentication by text message to log in. Why would this be a problem you ask? (though I doubt you are asking that) Well, when an employee who is not the owner (the owner is me) needs to access quickbooks, they do NOT have access to my phone. (this is because the phone belongs to me, does that make sense?) They cannot access quickbooks because they can NOT get the verification text message. Therefore, business becomes increasingly difficult and costs more money because of decreased productivity. (Quickbooks wouldn't understand the concept of productivity: Productivity is the efficiency with which a business uses their resources i.e. time, machines, technology)

Instead of directing us to a dead end employee where there will be no accountability for the resolution of this problem, take the initiative yourself and contact the necessary parties to fix this issue. When the necessary parties inevitably do nothing to fix the issue, FOLLOW UP. This is your responsibility, not ours.

I will bet that some quickbooks admin will respond to this message by filibustering and directing me to call or screen share --basically waste my time without a resolution. Watch them do it, for you who is having the same problem, you've made it to the end of this paragraph. I doubt they've hardly read the first few sentences. I can't wait till the inherent weaknesses in this company make way for a new entry to the market with exceptional service.

3 hours log in time is ridiculous.  Most people that use this are sole proprietors, we work 12+ hours a day, two step authentication is not only time consuming but embarrassing for a business owner trying to print an invoice for a waiting customer.

Fix this or we will start to leave.

Hello, @outaice. Let me show you how to turn off the two-step verification in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The two-step verification process in QBO helps secure your account when logging in to Intuit programs using your device or browser. Since you want to disable this feature, please follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to your Intuit account.
  2. Choose Sign in & security.
  3. Click 2-step verification, then turn off the Use 2-step verification switch.
  4. Type in your password, then choose Continue

Additionally, to use the feature to set up time duration in QBO, check out this article: Change the time out duration in QuickBooks Online.

Let us know if you have any further questions about disabling the two-step verification or any other concerns within the software. We're here to help. Have a good one.

Where would one find "Sign in and Security".  Its not on the main menu, not in settings, and a search couldn't find it.

Thanks for following up with the Community, shampton.

Your Sign in & security option can be found in the Manage your account section of the home screen after signing in to your Intuit Account. Once you've signed in, look for an area titled "Manage your account", then click the option titled Sign in & security.

I've included an image showing where it can be found:

If you're signing in to your QuickBooks Online account, there won't be an option titled Sign in & security on the home page. Be sure to sign in to your Intuit Account instead.

I've also included a detailed resource about working with Intuit Accounts which may come in handy moving forward: Manage your Intuit Account online

Please don't hesitate to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have a great Thursday!

it is off and has been off for years,  I went through this about 2-3 years ago and finally just got fed up with customer support and figured they would fix it eventually.  VPN or no VPN I have to do 2 step every time. I have to click on fire hydrants and get a code text to me if I leave for 3 hours.  3 times a day I have to do this.  WHY cant this be fixed.   This is not a new problem.
