The financial institution mandated the token requirement. Since your banks are disconnected, I'll help you with how to reconnect them.
Here's how:
Here's an article to learn more about connecting a bank account in QBO: Connect bank and credit card accounts in QuickBooks Online.
If the account is disconnected without downloaded transactions, you'll need to update your existing bank account in QuickBooks Online to switch to OAuth. Here are the steps:
Once updated, you can access your account using the token. You can learn more about this process via this article: What OAuth and what's changing with online bank connections.
You can get back to this thread if you have additional banking issues or any concerns while working with your account. I'll be glad to help.
Hi,
Unfortunately, it did not work. After clicking Banking->Link Account, I selected my bank (People's United Bank (CT) - eTreasury+) and entered my credentials. It asks for my software token passcode. I generated one and entered, but get this same error:
"Something unexpected happened and we couldn't connect to your bank.
Try signing in again, and check for typos and other errors. If that doesn't work, try signing in on the People's United Bank (CT) - eTreasury+ site. (176)"
I also signed in to the bank as mentioned, but got the same results.
I don't see a "Update now" link in my Banking page, so wasn't sure how to "switch to OAuth" as you mentioned.
Please help.
Appreciate the update, @tp.
I want to ensure this matter is addressed timely so you can reconnect your account in People's United Bank (CT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO) banking feeds.
Since you still receive the same error message after following the suggestion above, I recommend contacting our Customer Care Support. You can work with one of your specialists in letting our engineering team investigate why such a problem exists after trying to connect your bank account.
You can do so by following the steps below:
And make sure to connect with our support specialists online during business hours, Mondays to Fridays from 6 AM to 6 PM PT and Saturdays from 6 AM to 3 PM PT, for the best experience. Kindly read this article to learn more: QuickBooks Online Support.
Meanwhile, our customers, like you, with an account in People's United Bank (CT) are not yet included with the OAuth requirements. This is the reason why you're unable to see the Update now link and switch to the new connection method.
For now, we can still get your latest transactions by downloading a list of them in a CSV file format and uploading the file in QuickBooks. Use this article to read and learn more about manually uploading transactions: Manually Upload Transactions into QuickBooks Online.
You may also read through this article and use this to review your uploaded transactions to put them in the correct accounts: Categorize and Match Online Bank Transactions in QuickBooks Online. This article also includes the steps in putting more than one account in a transaction and removing them for duplicate instances.
If there's anything else that I can help you with aside from connecting your bank account and working with your transactions, please let me know by commenting below. I'll be around and ready to assist you. Take care always, @tp!
