We're glad to have you here in the Community space, Sahira. Let me explain why QuickBooks asks for the QuickBooks Desktop administrator password during the migration process.
During migration from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO), QuickBooks requests a desktop administrator password to ensure proper authorization and security. The desktop administrator's credentials are required to verify access rights and permissions for the migration process.
If you're not the administrator, please contact your admin and have them enter the password so you can proceed with the migration process.
On the other hand, if you're the admin and haven't set the admin password ever since, I recommend contacting our Support Team for further assistance. They have the necessary tools to access account details securely.
Here's how to contact them within QBDT:
Also, you can contact our support team directly by calling the phone number located at the bottom part of this article: Contact QuickBooks Desktop Support.
For future reference, I've attached this article to help you learn what to do when you first sign in to your QBO account and get set up: Get started and adjust settings after you sign up for QBO.
I'm all ears for any other concerns with migrating from QBDT to QBO. Take care.
Which QB Desktop year version do you have?
Can you open the company file on your machine?
