If I have QB POS and QB Online, should I use an App to integrate them (if so which one), switch to QB Desktop to avoid App? Looking for an informed decision please. TY

I have been using QB POS for a few years, accountant prefers QB online but said whatever works best for my situation. I don't love the idea of changing POS systems so would prefer to make it work if possible. Would like to hear input from those who have experience in the area. I have called QB but hey did not really seem to have a clear answer and after I was on hold for a really long time, so my confidence in the answer was not great. Also, any drawbacks from switching to Desktop from Online? Thank you for your time and input.

Yes, you need to use an app to sync QuickBooks Online (QBO) with QuickBooks Point of Sale (POS), howardsmall3-gma.

Currently, POS only links to the desktop versions of QuickBooks. For QBO, I can only provide the website where you can find apps that helps connect these two programs.

You can go to the App menu on your QBO account. Here's how:

  1. On the left panel, click Apps.
  2. Click the Browse Category drop-down list.
  3. Select Point of Sale Solution.
  4. Click the app so you can check more details.

Or find some apps directly to the QuickBooks App website. Use this link as your guide: https://apps.intuit.com/app/apps/home.

If you don't want to use an app, you can switch to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Here's an article to help you through the process: Export and convert your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop.

Once done, you can sync data between POS and QBDT. I'm adding these links to help you understand the process of integrating these two programs.

Leave a comment below if you need more help with this integration. Take care always!

@howardsmall3-gma

You need a 3rd party app to connect QB POS and QB Online. One app starts from $40/month to manage up to 500 orders/month for 1 user. Another option, you can still purchase the one time license for QB Desktop 2021 to connect with your QB POS.
