Hello, @Aaronnickell.
I understand the importance of having this report. Allow me to help share further information about running a report for estimate vs actual job costs in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
I appreciate you for executing the workaround to open the report you wanted. The specific functionality that you're asking about isn't available at this time. However, I will forward this request to our product engineers, so that it is considered for future updates.
I also suggest that you leave feedback for them through the following link: QuickBooks Online Feature Requests. You also have the option to send your idea within your QuickBooks. Just click the Gear icon and choose Feedback. Then, you can check our feedback page. From there, you can check for related requests and add a vote to add the feature.
I'm adding these articles to learn more about the reports available in your subscription and how you can customize them:
Drop me a comment below if there's anything else you need about running a report. I'd be happy to offer additional help. Have a blissful day!
Just hopping on here - I agree with many of the users above, this is a critical feature that is not available in QBO. Our operations team has to manually pull this data into our own spreadsheet/profitability report. Pulling a simple report to understand estimated COGS/Labour vs Actuals is imperative to many businesses.
Any update on this issue yet? Looks like its been a couple of years without any results.
If QuickBooks expects everyone to eventually move to QB online, then you must get the estimates vs. actual detail report figured out. I will continue to discourage clients from moving to QB online, because some of my construction clients rely heavily on this report. Not having the ability to run this report essentially handicaps them when it comes to tracking expenses for projects. Intuit is slated to lose quite a bit of business if you are going to force this subscription service, but only provide sub-par reporting. Construction clients are going to start leaning on more construction tracking specific software programs and will move away from QB. You all have the ability to provide this report in QB desktop, why is this so difficult to transfer this report to your online version?
Has anyone tried to use the spreadsheet sync feature to export project estimate vs actual data?
I have not, but part of the report is that you can click on the number, and then be taken to another report with the number broken down by the invoices, and from there you can click to see the invoices individually. It's honestly something we use every single day.
@BigRedConsulting any idea on this? Been stumped here for years now.
RE: any idea on this? Been stumped here for years now.
Not sure. What do you mean by "this"? I read through the thread and am not sure...
Generally QB Online reports are lame, have been lame for 20+ years, and there has been no progress in that time that I can discern.
You have clicked a link to a site outside of the QuickBooks or ProFile Communities. By clicking "Continue", you will leave the community and be taken to that site instead.
