Is there any way to stay signed into QBO across window closes or browser launches? I can't keep QBO open in a browser window all day, and it prompts for login every time!

If you login to QBO, then close the browser window, the next time you go to access QBO you are prompted again to login. Is there no cookie setting to allow automatic login? This is the most frustrating thing. Support says to keep the browser window open, but I am on webcams off and on all day, and do I really want to risk a client grabbing a glance at my Quickbooks account? Obviously no. So how can I bypass the login every time I want to access the account?

Hello there, Mister Clean.

I understand the frustration that you're going through, and this isn't what we wanted you to feel. However, the security of your account is our top priority, and this feature helps us prevent unauthorized persons from accessing your data.

On the other hand, we can still change the time-out duration in your QuickBooks Online.

Here's how:

  1. Navigate to Settings, then select Account and Settings.
  2. Click Advanced.
  3. Scroll down and click Edit ✎ from the Other preferences.
  4. You can choose 1, 2, or hours from a drop-down button in the Sign me out if inactive for.
  5. Hit Save.
  6. Click Done.

Please be advised that after 3 hours of using the program, you'll have to re-enter your User ID and Password.

Additionally, you can refer to this article to learn how to edit your account credentials: Update or change your Intuit Account sign-in information.

You can also visit our QuickBooks blog to keep updated with our new features, current updates, and recent news.

Feel free to reach out if you have further questions about your logins or any QuickBooks-related queries. We're always here to help you. Keep safe.

Hello and thanks for the reply. If the timeout also served to allow automatic login (after previously closing the browser window) that would be great. I'd be fine with having to login again after 3 hours. However this feature appears to only affect how long you can be actively logged in via an active browser window. Once you close the browser window, you are logged out.  I do understand the security concern, but our entire company works from home with little chance of someone happening by to start messing with the Quickbooks account on our computers. I think this should be reconsidered as a preference option for the system.

I appreciate you putting your voice out and sharing the feedback here in our forums, @Mister Clean.

I can see how it would be useful to have the ability to stay signed in without any limitations in QuickBooks. Having this feature in QBO is indeed a great idea, and I’d appreciate it if you send your product suggestions straight to our Developers for consideration in future updates.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the top, then select Feedback.
  2. Type in your feedback or product suggestions.
  3. Click Next to submit feedback.

You can also send and track your feedback by going to the following link: QuickBooks Online Feature Requests.

You can also check out this article for more details about the QBO dashboard and how to manage your account: Get started and adjust settings after you sign up for QuickBooks Online.

Hi,

Please allow this to be greater than the 1, 2, or 3 hours from a drop-down button.
You are forcing me to login 3+ times a day. I would really like a user option to turn this off, if we require it.

We all understand this is a security feature, but do not force it upon us.

Give us the option to disable the "Sign me out if inactive" option, if we require it.

This is making it difficult to work with.

Thank you.

Hello there, @dmaco. I'm here to provide the steps for submitting feedback to our engineering team.

As of posting, the maximum inactivity timeout is set to three hours. Also, you're correct that this feature is implemented to enhance the security of your sensitive financial information and ensure that your account remains protected against unauthorized access.

We recognize that some users prefer a longer inactivity period for added convenience, and we genuinely appreciate your input on this matter. I encourage you to share your feedback directly to our product engineers regarding the option for an extended duration or the ability to turn this off. This will allow them to analyze and consider your suggestion for future updates.

Here's how you can send your request:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  3. Tap Next to submit.

Additionally, you can refer to this article about personalizing your sales forms: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Let us know if you have other concerns with the Sign me out if inactive option of your QBO. We're here to help you in any way we can.
