Logging into client QB Desktop 2024 without client Intuit ID pw

If this doesn't work for you guys, I recommend speaking with your client's about what they'd like you to do.

Thanks for your reply.  On those times where we need to log into their computer (either in person or via remote connection), I'm concerned about having to deal with the Intuit 2-factor authentication where the client gets a text or email that they have to respond to right away.  It's just not realistic or desirable (I don't want to bug them every time we need to log into their Quickbooks program).  Should we have our own user name in their Quickbooks program?  I hope that makes sense.  I've just had the experience sometimes where I'm using a client's QB and it will ask me to log into their Intuit account in order to access QB desktop (and sometimes logging into the Intuit account requires the 2-factor fun, so how to avoid this, unless it goes to my own email or cell phone?).  I appreciate your time!!!

If you don't have QB Desktop 2024 Pro/Premier/Accountant, you can use the trial version of QB Desktop 2024 Enterprise to restore their backup file and convert it to QBO. You can use the trial version for good if required. You don't need bother to use your client's license or 2FA issues.

Yes, you can sign-in to the company file with a request to set up the intuit account. This way, you don't have to ask your client for the code which you need every time you log in. Before doing so, ask your client to add you as an External Accountant in their file to log in without Intuit Account prompts.

Here's how:

1. On QuickBooks Desktop, select You sign in on your admin’s behalf to manage the financial actions of this company file.
2. Click Proceed.
3. Enter necessary info to help your admin set up an Intuit Account for this file.
4. Provide your admin's email and your own.
5. Choose Proceed.
6. Hit OK.

Thank you so much for your reply.

I have one more question (which I am not sure should be in a new thread or not).

My client has yet to officially sign up for their Intuit account.  They are Mac users and we are totally PC based.  They are used to using QuickBooks Online only and we are having them switch to QuickBooks Desktop Premier on a PC.   I know this shouldn't make a difference, but they were told by Intuit on the phone when they bought the QB Desktop version that they needed to create a new Intuit account, separate from the one used for the QB Online software.  So the Intuit customer service created a separate Intuit account via phone, but never set up their password.  My question is, what the easiest way to tell my client how to set up their new Intuit account password?  Something easy peasy. When we were on the phone with Intuit with the client,  the whole transaction took an hour at least.  I just need this to be a quick 1,2,3 thing.  Please advise.

1. Visit the sign-in help page.
2. Enter the account's phone number, email address, or user ID.
3. Once you enter your phone number or email address, we'll send you a text or email with a verification code. If you enter a user ID, choose which method you prefer.
4. Type in the verification code we sent, or follow the instructions in the message. We can ask you for more info to make sure it's you.
5. When prompted, reset your password. Or, you can select Skip.

Once they've successfully logged in to their account, they can easily update email address, phone number, and password according to their preference.

Your client is using Mac but you asked them to purchase QB Desktop Premier Plus?

Unless they don't mind running QB Desktop Premier Plus on Parallels, you should call your client immediately to clarify this requirement.
