Merging An Accidental Duplicate Company File

Hello,

I've accidentally created a duplicate company file by putting the original file on a flashdrive and moving it to a new PC. I didn't realize until many invoices later that it wasn't syncing with my server.

Is there a way to transfer over the invoices that were entered on the flashdrive file into the live Quickbooks company on my server?

Merging An Accidental Duplicate Company File

Hello there, @walkersecurityllc.

If you're using a third-party application that provides an. IIF file format, you can import the invoices to QuickBooks.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your company file as the Admin.
  2. Click the File menu at the top and select Switch to Single-user Mode.
  3. Click the File menu again and select Utilities.
  4. Select Import and choose IIF Files.
  5. Look for the.IIF file and click Open.
  6. Click OK.

Also, you can contact your accountant. They have tools that can create a batch invoice and transfer it to your server.

You can also use this article for reference: Export or Import Intuit Interchange Format (.IIF) Files. It provides a list that you can import.

Feel free to drop a comment below, if you have any other questions. I'm here to lend a hand. Take care.

Merging An Accidental Duplicate Company File

There is a way, though there's nothing built into QuickBooks to copy transactions like invoices from one company file to another.

Instead, use our BRC Transaction Copier , which will help you pull your invoices out of the duplicate file and import them into your main file.
