Join nowI want to move 2 QB accounts (say companies) with several years data from a computer with 3 user desktop pro to a new computer with new single user desktop pro. Is it possible? Do I simply copy the files over?
I'll help you in moving them, astronaut.
The fastest way to transfer your QuickBooks companies is to create and restore a backup file. You can follow the steps I've listed below:
To learn more about this process, you can read this guide: Move your company files to another computer.

Open your company file on the old machine and secure the backup file (QBB). Restore the file on your new machine.
Thank you to both responders for explaining how to move the files. That deals with the second question.
My main question was about whether a Single User QB Desktop Pro program will be able to use files produced by a 3 User QB Desktop Pro program. They are both QB Desktop Pro programs but I wondered whether there will be differences in the files that would cause problems for the single user program to utilize the files from the 3 user program.
I had in mind the fact that there were differences between the 3 user Pro and the 5 user Premier programs that prevented files from one version from being used by the other.
Thank you

Thank you
You can open the same company file in QBD Pro or Premier as long as they are created in the same year version. Nothing to do with user license.
