Must I upgrade and then downgrade to make a reclass to one account?

I have one liability account that I need to reclass to another liability.  Many rows of data.  QBO has a reclass routine in its advanced offering - I am using plus.  Must I upgrade for an hour to make this reclass and then downgrade when finished?

Must I upgrade and then downgrade to make a reclass to one account?

Good day, Dan2601. I'd be happy to lend a hand in setting up classes in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

There is no need for a temporary upgrade in order to reclassify transactions in QBO Plus. It should be available to you as part of your Plus Subscription.

To activate this function in your QuickBooks account, simply follow these steps:

  1. Click the Gear icon.
  2. Select Account and Settings.
  3. In the navigational bar, click Advanced.
  4. Select Categories.
  5. Check off Track classes to turn on class tracking.
  6. Click Save and then Done.

To know more about the class tracking feature in QBO, you may visit this article: Class tracking in QuickBooks Online

Then, you can run several class reports to track transactions by class. For the detailed steps here is an awesome link that you can open: Run reports by class.

Feel free to leave a reply if you have more questions about class tracking in QBO. I'll be here to answer them for you. Stay safe.

Must I upgrade and then downgrade to make a reclass to one account?

Hey LeizyIM,

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my query.  However, I am referring to RECLASS rather than using the very helpful 'classes' feature available for line-item transactions. The RECLASS feature available in the advanced QBO version would save me hours of mundane work but I cannot justify the increased cost for the upgrade.  I need to move ALL references to account 20002 to account 22000.  With QBO plus, I can only reclass one row at a time

Again, thanks for responding.

Hey there, @Dan2601

Thanks for jumping back in and giving us some additional information about your request with reclassing.

The best route would either be to stay with the Plus subscription and reclass one by one, or you could upgrade to Advanced and be able to reclass more than one at a time. Here's the link for all the steps that could be helpful in the future:

Reclassify or move multiple transactions in QBO Advanced

The reason that QuickBooks Online Advanced costs more is because of other features and details that it has to offer: Choose the plan that's right for your business

You can also submit feedback to our Product Developers so they can consider adding this feature to the Plus subscription in the near future.

I hope this helps answer your question. I'm only a post away if you need me again. Have a great day!
