Hi there, Musicmaker76.

I hope this message finds you well. I understand that you are using QuickBooks Online and have questions regarding the visibility of business and personal reports in QuickBooks Self-Employed. I would be more than happy to explain the difference between the two platforms and why you are unable to see those reports in QuickBooks Self-Employed when she is using QuickBooks Online.

QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Self-Employed are two separate platforms designed to cater to different business needs. QuickBooks Online is a comprehensive accounting software solution primarily targeted at small to medium-sized businesses. It offers invoicing, expense tracking, inventory management, and payroll features, allowing users to manage their business finances efficiently.

On the other hand, QuickBooks Self-Employed is specifically designed for freelancers, independent contractors, and self-employed individuals. It focuses on simplifying the tracking and management of personal and business expenses, estimated tax payments, and mileage tracking. However, it does not offer the same functionality as QuickBooks Online, such as generating business and personal reports.

Due to the distinct purposes and target audiences of these two platforms, the reporting capabilities differ. QuickBooks Online provides a wide range of reports that allow users to analyze their business's financial health, track profitability, and identify trends. In contrast, QuickBooks Self-Employed does not have the same depth of reporting features, as it focuses more on individual expense management.

To access comprehensive business and personal reports, you must utilize QuickBooks Self-Employed instead of QuickBooks Online. The reports available in QuickBooks Self-Employed will provide you with the necessary insights and analysis you require for managing your business finances effectively.

Moreover, you can review and download reports in QBSE. That way, you'll have a personal copy of the data entered into the program.

If you have any further questions or if there's anything else I can assist you with, please feel free to reach out. We are here to help and ensure you have the best experience with QuickBooks. Have a great day!

Thank you for that explanation and the resolution you mentioned was what I did as a work around.  I did send the report. I was able during the free trial period go back and forth between online and self employed.  For my use self employed was the winner. I'm extremely pleased with self employed and for the first time I was prepared to file on time. I just wanted to submit an official request to make that report available as the others are which would improve self employed. This has been the only missing component in my experience so far.
