No matter whether I turn two-step verification on or off, it keeps insisting that I enter a code at login?

Hello, @mike209.

Did you forget your log in credentials and trying to reset your password to log in to your QuickBooks Online. If yes, intuit will send you a 6 digit code through your email address in resetting your ID or Password to verify your account.

Once you have reset your password, you will be able to log in again.

Click this article for more detailed information in resetting your ID and Password. Reset your password or recover your user ID for QuickBooks Online

I would be happy if you add more information below about the log in issue for me to give you a proper resolution with your concern. Thank you and always keep safe!

I have the same problem.  Any ideas how to fix it?

I am not resetting my password when QBO requires this code.

Thanks

Hi there, doug27.

Let me share additional insights about the two-step verification in QuickBooks Online. You'll be asked to enter a security code once the two-step verification feature in QBO is turned on. This as an additional level of protection to your account. You'll want to check if this is the case.

Here's how to turn it off:

  1. Log in to your Intuit account.
  2. Select Sign In & Security from the left panel.
  3. In the “Two-step verification” section, select Turn-off.
  4. Enter the code, then select Continue.

You can learn more information about turning on or turning off two-step verification in this article.

The system should no longer ask you to enter code after turning this feature off.

I'd appreciate it if you'll update me on how the steps work. I want to make sure this is taken care of.

These instructions do not work on two different QBO accounts

Thanks for joining this thread, dinmi.

I'm having the same problem. Two-step is set to OFF, but I have to get a text message every time. I've tried this in a private browser.

Hi @mxdsa,

Thank you for posting here in the Community. I can share some information that will help you understand the security feature in QuickBooks.

The Two-step verification feature is an extra layer of security that you can enable or disable. This setting allows users to verify using a code every time they access the account.

Once you turn it off, the multi-factor authentication security is enabled automatically. You'll be asked to enter a code the first time you login into an unrecognized browser.

Make sure to allow cache and cookies on your browser to avoid entering a code every time you access your account. QuickBooks will only require another code if you clear them or if you use an incognito or private browser.

Additionally, I recommend checking out this article about how to set up a Google Authenticator as an added security for your QuickBooks: Verify your account with multi-factor authentication.

Please let me know if you have additional questions about the security features of the product. I'm always here to help. Take care always.
