Our Church had our Primary Administrator walk out...she has been gone since last July 2024. I need her off and myself as Primary Administrator.

I have been the treasurer since Aug. 1, 2024. I asked previous treasurer to switch me to Primary. She has not done so. I simply think she didn't know how--and since she literally gave no notice in leaving...I need to get this resolved, so I can add someone else and train them. There is one other admin...but she works full time---and after a year--I realize she has no intention of learning this program. I had to teach myself everything....and am STILL learning...our Church being a non-profit doesn't even use half the capabilities this program possesses; and is definitely made for someone with an accounting background...but I have managed to learn.

You can request to be the primary admin for your non-profit business, Vicki, to become the admin yourself.

Since you're unable to get the primary admin to transfer the role to you, there's no need to worry. Even if they're unable to make the change themselves, you can send a request to our account protection team. Before doing so, we need to gather the documents needed for your request. QuickBooks will collect and verify your account data. You'll need the following:

  • Your photo ID (driver's license, state-issued ID, or passport).
  • If you aren't the person in charge of what goes into the QuickBooks account, you'll also need a photo ID of the QuickBooks account admin and a permission letter signed by the QuickBooks account admin.

Once ready, here are the steps to request as the primary role:

  1. To access QuickBooks, sign in to your Intuit Account and complete the form. If you don't have an Intuit Account, create one.
  2. Select Request Primary Administrator Update, below. Then complete the form.

Your request will be under review by the team and waiting for approval. You’ll receive an update via email with the status of your request. Wait for an email from no_response@intuit.com. We'll let you know once we transferred the primary admin role to you. You'll just have to sign in with the email address you provided the next time you use QuickBooks.

Feel free to post here again if you have more questions about the admin role in QBO. We are available 24/7 to lend a hand with each of your queries, Vicki.
