I seem to be having some issue with the sub accounts I created and mapped correctly to the parent account in that the parent account is not automatically totaling all the sub accounts, any thoughts. I've called and spoke to QB support 7 times and NOONE is able to help with this. I've also been using QB for a very long time and have set up numerous subaccounts and they always automatically totaled in the parent account.
The yellow highlighted is the grand total of ALL subaccounts in the Credit Card account, you can see it shows $0.00 but the red has a total. For whatever reason the parent account is not automatically totaling ALL the subaccounts in the Chart of Accounts view on the desktop. If I run a report it shows the total, but once I drill down and show the sub accounts, the total of the parent account becomes zero, when it still should show the cumulative grand total. Not one QB Support person can tell me why...and I've had to talk to 7 of them.
Hi there, @WMHCP.
I got your back in uncovering this concern about having the total amount of your sub-accounts to show up in the parent account.
The issue that you've encountered will only occur if there's a transaction on the sub-account which offsets the parent account. Like for example, there's a charge made on the sub-account and the payment was posted on the parent account. In this case, the parent account will show as zero.
Here's a sample set up of this scenario:
To fix this, you'll need to review the posting account of the transactions under the parent account to see if it's correct. If not, you may edit the posting account of the entry so the total amount of the sub-account will roll up to the parent.
You may pull up the Transaction Detail by Account report and customize it by the parent account to see all the entries under the said account.
To do that:
To modify the account of the transaction, just double click the entry and edit it from there. Once done, pull up the accounts report again.
Let me know on how things turn out after performing this process. I'll be right here to provide continued support if there's anything else that you need.
Nope not correct, the parent account SHOULD always be a mirror image of all the subaccounts with a collective total of all the sub accounts in the parent account.
I have been on the phone with QB for 3 hours and they too have said the subaccount totals should roll up into the parent account. I am using Premier 2021 and they have no idea why the totals are not rolling up as it should.
