Hello,
This feature is in QuickBooks Online.
1. Make sure you have account numbers turned on in Gear Icon/Account and Settings/Advanced
2. Make sure you have account numbers entered in the account number field for an account
3. From your Chart of Accounts, click "Run Report" in the upper right corner
This should give you a report of your Chart of Accounts with the account number. You can also add or remove columns by clicking the customize button on the report screen.

I am setting up a small home business in QB desktop. I am trying to find an example chart of accounts COA with standard account numbers. Is there such a report that gives me ideas on how to number my COA?
Thank you in advance for your time.

Hi there, Melissa!
I'd be glad to help you with your concern.
Great idea you have there. I can see having a report that can guide you on how to assign account numbers to your chart of accounts would be helpful.
Default account numbers are based on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), I'd suggest consulting your accountant so you'd be guided in assigning them.
You'll want to go to your Preferences to enable the account number feature. Here are the steps:
For more details, you can check out this article: Add, edit, or delete accounts in QuickBooks Desktop

Please feel free to leave a message to this thread if you have more questions with a chart of accounts. I'm always here to assist.
I have the chart of accounts with account numbers. I want to print the chart of accounts including the description. l run report and see all that I want; however, the sort and filter option only allows it to be printed in alphabetic order. i want it printed in account number order. Also, I would like to turn off all the quickbooks chart of accounts I do not want to use.
Welcome to the Community space, CPI Accounting. I'll provide details about printing your chart of accounts by account number.
To print reports showing your chart of accounts by account number order, you should customize your report first. This step will ensure that printed forms accurately reflect the correct data format. Please refer to the attached screenshot below to help you navigate easily.
However, if it doesn't show the expected data you want, I suggest exporting your report to Excel forms to sort it by account numbers.
Moreover, there are default accounts in QuickBooks you can’t make inactive or use for any other purpose. Some accounts can be deactivated or deleted by merging. Learn more about these accounts through this article: Manage default and special accounts in your QuickBooks Online chart of accounts.
Additionally, you may want to customize a report under the Chart of Accounts. Refer to this relevant resource for your guide: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.
To save a customized report for future use, click the Save customization, then look for this report in the Custom Reports tab when needed. Refer to this article to learn more: Memorize your reports in QBO.
I'm just around the corner and ready to answer if you have additional questions about the account numbers in the Chart of Accounts. Have a great day.
