I'm still a little confused about Quickbooks subscriptions. What happens to my Quickbooks Accountant Desktop program (2023) when my subscription renews with the September release of 2024? It seems Intuit is purposely vague when looking up any information regarding the subscription or pricing.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Confuse no more, @MAIVT. I understand how the changes in pricing and subscriptions affect you. With this, I'll share some information about what happens to QuickBooks Accountant Desktop and the new services added after the renewal.
Once you renew your subscription, you'll have access to the most recent releases to cooperate with clients better and ensure the most recent security patches, as well as third-party operating system support. Regardless of your subscription status, you still own your data. Rest assured that you can open and edit company files at any time with a compatible license or active subscription.
Quickbooks Desktop Accountant (2023) is supported through May 2024. It means you can still provide services to clients using the 2023 version, excluding associated assistance.
I see that a permanent license with three years of connected service support was available with the prior edition of QuickBooks Accountant Desktop. Although the new program uses an annual subscription, it offers a similar user interface and functionality. Through this, we're promoting uniformity throughout the QuickBooks product line.
Feel free to check out this guide to learn more about the renewal process: Renew your subscription or use view-only mode in QuickBooks Desktop 2023.
I'm adding this article that contains details about downloading the latest QuickBooks Desktop account and services with the Customer Account Maintenance Portal (CAMPs): Manage your QuickBooks Desktop subscriptions and services.
If you need further clarification about what happens to your Quickbooks subscription after the renewal, just let me know in the comment section. I’m always here to assist you. Take care.

Hello - I just received my renewal email - $1149!!?? WOW! and that's going to be annually!!??
I cannot afford that - I'm a small business! Can I continue using 2023 and just purchase Enhanced Payroll subscrition? I am a ProAdvisor - wasn't there supposed to be a discount?
Thank you!

You were using QBD 2023 Pro Plus, correct?
You can use the trial version of QBD 2023 to open your file.
