Assess finance charges

How can I assess finance charges to show on statement to each individual invoice and not just a finance charge for the total balance owed?

Assess finance charges

Hi, @FMW.

To assess finance charges on each individual invoice and display them on the statement in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Here's how:

  1. Click the Customer option then, click Create Statements.
  2. Under the Select Statement Options select which of these two you prefer to view the statements.
  • Statement Period From: This option allows you to view the statement for a specific period of time. You can choose a start date and an end date to define the statement period.
  • All Open Transactions as of Statement Date: With this option, you can view the statement that includes all open transactions up until a specific statement date.

       3. Under the Select Additional Options section choose Per Customer in Create One Statement option and tick the box for Show invoice item details on statements.

       4. Click Preview.

Additionally, if you would like to enable your customers to pay their invoices online, you can utilize the "Send Transactions" feature: Take and process payments in QuickBooks Desktop.

Assess finance charges

Hi it still doesn't show finance charge next to each  invoice. It only shows a total finance charge for all unpaid invoices

Assess finance charges

Thank you for reaching out to the Community. @Joanna books

I recognized the importance of setting your finance charge next to each invoice in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Let me provide information about this feature.

Currently, the statement only includes unpaid invoices with finance charges. For now, I recommend sending feedback about it. We always consider customer feedback when improving or adding features. This will give us an idea of how we may improve the functionality of QBDT to meet users' needs and enhance the working experience.

Here's how:

  1. Select the Help option.
  2. Select the Send Feedback Online option.
  3. Select the Product Suggestion option. A pop-up window displays.
  4. Enter your comments or feedback suggestions.
  5. Click the Send Feedback button.

For more details about the feedback process, you can check this article:  Submit a feedback.

I will also include a helpful article that guide you to send statements to your customers to show them summaries of their invoices, payments, credits, and balances: Create and send customer statements in QuickBooks Desktop.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to improve your experience with QuickBooks Online. If there's anything else that I can help you with, please do not hesitate to reach out.
