Can I generate a report that lists products and services sold on a service date not an invoice date?

Hello there, emily3.

Good to see you here in QuickBooks Community. Let me help and guide you on to generate a report you need in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

You can pull up the Sales by Product/Service Detail report and customize it to add the service date. To do  this, let me walk you through the steps:

  1. On the left menu tab, select Reports.
  2. Type-in Sales by Product/Service Detail on the search bar.
  3. Click Customize.
  4. Select Rows/Columns.
  5. Click Change columns
  6. Put a check mark on the Service Date
  7. Click Run Report

You may also sort the report by following these steps:

For additional reference, you can check this article on how to customize reports.

If you need further assistance with the steps, I encourage you to get in touch with our QuickBooks Online Support Team. They have the tools to pull up your account and do a remote session.

Here's how you can contact our phone support:

  1. Click this link: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
  2. Select the version of QuickBooks, click Contact Us.
  3. Type-in Customer Support on the search bar.
  4. And click Get the Phone number below.

This will get you on the right track. Please know that I'm just a post away if you have any other questions about the report. Wishing you and your business continued success.

How can you do this in Quickbooks Desktop?

Can I generate a report that lists products and services sold on a service date not an invoice date?

Hello, JennaJ.

I'd be glad to lay down the details regarding the availability of the Service Date data on reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

In QuickBooks Desktop, we're unable to include the Service Date column (if you had it enabled in your custom forms). The Desktop platform currently uses the main headers and names to display the data.

For now, I suggest using the Sales by Item Detail and review the invoices sold within a specific date. Here's how:

  1. Click the Reports menu.
  2. Hover on Sales.
  3. Select Sales by Item Detail
  4. Open each transaction, then check for the service date.

Our developers are working on new updates for QuickBooks Desktop. They might include the Service Date data on reports, just like in QuickBooks Online.

You'll want to check our release notes articles for updates about the Desktop version in the meantime: Release notes for QuickBooks Desktop 2021 (other versions can be found under the Related Q&A section).

Do you need help with other areas in QuickBooks Desktop? We have articles under a variety of topics in the general support page. Select a topic and choose a guide to help you with the processes in the Desktop platform.

You're welcome to post again in the Community space. My colleagues and I will be there to help you manage your transactions, run reports and the like. I'll see you around real soon.
