Can I get reports to default to Classic View instead of Modern View?

Things like Account Drilldown QuickReport (and others?) always default to Modern View. Having been Quickbooks Desktop user for the 15 years and just converted to QBO, I'd really like to see the Classic View as default.

Thank you for clarifying your reporting concern, Danimal. I'll make sure to address it to help you in effectively managing your business finances.

The Budget vs. Actual report in QuickBooks Online (QBO) will only compare actual data against a single budget for a specific period. Alternatively, you can export both FY 2023 and 2024 budget reports and manually combine them outside the system to create a custom document. To do this, here's how:

  1. Go to Reports.
  2. Use the Find report by name field to search for Budget vs. Actual report.
  3. Customize the report as necessary.
  4. At the top of the report, select the Export icon. Then select Export to Excel.
  5. Save the file somewhere you can easily find, like your Downloads folder or your desktop.

Additionally, you can save the current customization settings of the above reports for future use. To learn more about this process, please refer to this article: Memorize reports in QuickBooks Online.

Should you need additional help in generating reports and creating budgets to manage your business finances in QBO, please don't hesitate to leave a reply below. I'll be here ready to lend a hand.

Can I get reports to default to Classic View instead of Modern View?

Thank you for reaching out to the Community. @Danimal

I understand the importance of setting your report view on default in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Let me share an insight about this feature you want to have in your QuickBooks account.

Currently, the feature to set the view of your reports by default is unavailable. For now, we have to Manually click the switch to Classic view. However, for this feature to be available in QBO, I recommend sending a feature request to our Product Development team to help improve your experience with QBO and get this feature considered.

Here's how:

  1. At the left navigation panel, click Reports.
  2. Select the specific Reports.
  3. In the upper right corner, select Feedback.
  4. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  5. Then, click Next to submit a feedback.

For more details about the feedback process, you can check this article: Submit Feedback.

You can also check this to track your request: Customer Feedback for QuickBooks Online.

In addition, I will add these articles to guide you in managing your reports:

Can I get reports to default to Classic View instead of Modern View?

Okay yes, that shows me how to change my fiscal year to something other than the calendar year-end date, but my real question is whether I can get the Budget vs. Actual report to pull data from two different budgets when I print it for a date range that spans two periods.

Yes, that is an excellent idea. The classic view reports are much better.

As usual, Intuit provides a detailed response to a question that was never asked.  Read the question slowly and try again.

Try using the Right Tool (a free plug-in on Google Chrome). There is an icon in the dark blue strip that is a wrench and screwdriver. Click on that, then click on Classic Reports. You can make all your reports load automatically in Classic View from there. You can also choose which reports you use in Modern View, too.

Honestly, I have stopped using plain ol' QBO and the QBO desktop app, because Right Tool makes using QBO so much easier.
