Cancel a scheduled backup

We just changed to QB Enterprise Gold, and I wish to update my scheduled backups to a different schedule and retention period, but I couldn't find how to terminate one schedule, Is it as simple as creating a new schedule? I don't want to have two scheduled backups running. I couldn't find anything in the Help search options on modifying or cancelling a scheduled backup.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or directions.

Cancel a scheduled backup

Modifying or canceling a scheduled backup is a breeze in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @Deadwood Al. The process is as simple as creating one. I'd be glad to assist you all the way through to achieve your goal.

To proceed, let's go to the Create Backup page. This is where you can modify or cancel the scheduled backup. Here's how:

  1. First, make sure you're in the Single-user mode.
  2. Once done, select the File menu.
  3. Hover over the Back up Company option and choose Create Local Backup.
  4. Next, click Local Backup and select Next
  5. Then, select the Only schedule future backups option and click Next.
  6. In the Back Up On A Schedule section, highlight the previous scheduled backup you need to modify or cancel.
  7. Choose either Edit to modify the settings or Remove to cancel it (click Yes to confirm).

For reference, check this article: Back up your QuickBooks Desktop company file.

Once everything is set, here's a helpful guide you can use in restoring your backup files: Restore a backup of your company file.

If there's another thing you need guidance with or any issues with backing up your file, just click the Reply button to leave a response. I'm just around the Community to provide help. Have a great week ahead.
