Couldn't you save / Print it as a PDF and send privately ?

I agree with how intrusive and uncaring about their customer they have become.  I have been looking for alternate program to switch to (along with all my clients.  They are fed up too!)

I am not sure how you can tell what generation that person is, and yes, I do feel for their stress. The difference is I feel it on the inside.

What I do know is that this massive amount of changes is disruptive to people like me, that have their entire business wrapped up in this software since 1998. Perhaps that is the intention.

My clients are equally perturbed, and that gives me even more discomfort.

I am extremely busy and do not have time to learn new software, or the funds to purchase it, and training, so there will go some of my best clients.

I am praying desktop lasts until I am finished.

Good luck to all of you:)

This reminds me of the covid years' signs on my bank:  "Your health and safety are our first concern."  I told them, "The only concern I want you to have is keeping my money so I can have it when I want it.  My health and safety are none of your business."

I'm really surprised that these protests have been being made for at least three years (I had never read this thread before, although I'm in it) and the issue has only gotten worse.  I'm 78.   I've used Quickbooks since 1994, the first DOS-based version.  This month it's the popup multiple times a day about some cash flow function in Online.  The popup can't be disabled.   I've asked.    A lady at Intuit told me yesterday that they intend us to keep Accountant's version and Enterprise a little longer, but soon it will be "You will own nothing and be happy with Online and we will know every keystroke forever."   I grieve for all that is lost.

I have QB Premier 2021 - the last desktop version that could be purchased.  I do payroll for several clients.  Here's what I've done - I moved all my payroll to Payroll Mate, which is a stand alone payroll service not requiring the cloud.  You can import your payroll data to QB via IIF files.  I do not log in to my account ever, just X out of it (yes, every week for ever data file.  It's my Monday morning routine).  I've turned off all updates, and changed the preference under "Integrated Applications" to "Don't allow any applications to access this company file."  If I discover that all of this isn't enough, I will buy a separate hard drive not connected to the internet and put my Quickbooks and company data on it so that it can't be touched.  I've also been using Quickbooks since 1994, and have no interest in learning new software at this point - I've researched them and can't find anything that seems suitable or affordable.  If you'd like to know more about moving the payroll out of quickbooks, my email is junethebookie at that g mail place.

Seriously, a derisive comment when you know nothing about me is all you have to "add" to the conversation? My post has nothing to do with generations or age; it's about control of your own software and your own business security. It's about choice versus having things forced on you for your own good even when it doesn't help and actually is a hinderance.

And, Accountant Dave, you're pretty rude.

I'll check that provider out. Most I have found are subscription based liked QB is pushing to become and it adds up fast.

Just a reminder, class, you can continue to use old desktop versions of QB by getting an old laptop and keeping it entirely offline. Use a flash drive to download data files from your real computer, like payroll from 3rd party providers, and never, ever, use the internet on the old laptop. Disable the wifi. Remove the passcodes.

If you absolutely must use your current computer for now, disable the automatic updates. Disconnect your wifi signal and turn off the wifi completely on the computer (unplug if you have hard wired networking). When you're finished using QB desktop, do a CTR-ALT-DEL and kill all QB related processes. Not guaranteed to be foolproof, but will last until you make other arrangements.

Intuit is a sh!t company and I hope they go down in flames.

It's just, we're not dealing with any huge obstacles here aside from grabbing your data, and moving to a different software. Done. Solved. Your shouting into the abyss in all caps and calling people the enemy, and all that is doing nothing besides putting your weird meltdown on display. Is this how you handle problems you encounter? Good god man, pull yourself together. "Your generation" was meant in the proverbial sense. But boy did the gang of ya get real sensitive on that too. Anyway, It's just disappointing that a person, of any kind, would react with vitriol like you did in the first place and then play victim on top of it when a mirror gets held up. You could have this issue solved by the end of the day if you just showed some resolve or a little tact when speaking with the people you're asking help of. Here's a cheat sheet for you: NetSuite, Sage, BlackLine, SAP, Freshbooks, TallyPrime, Microsoft, Xero, Zoho Books, Oracle and so on and so forth. Enjoy paradise!

Most of those don't do a thing for clients who don't want their data online, which is the whole point of this conversation, in case you missed that part with your smug sanctimoniousness. You are relying way too much on technology and assuming the cloud (ie other people's servers) are just going to be there whenever and wherever you are. There is no evidence of that. I'm old enough to remember why people RAN, not walked, away from unix terminals to standalone PCs, kiddo. Because having your data held hostage sucks, especially Intuit-style legalized extortion. Because rolling blackouts are thing now, even in the US - and you don't know where those servers are, of how long they'll be down.  Because there is literally no such thing as "internet privacy," no matter how you dress it up. Because having to login is an infringement on MY privacy, too. Your snarky reply addresses none of those issues. Not one.

I'm joining in on this thread as well...

It's sad that Intuit has forced this obscene yearly subscription option just to have QB "premier".

We previously used them for our CC processing (very few CC tx/month but nice to have for some customers) and after looking at the math, it didn't add up. AT ALL.

I hope that Intuit forcibly removes their cranium from their rectum at some point, and realizes that desktop users like myself (since 2000) are still out there, and to not alienate us.

GNUCash is looking very promising these days... Opensource, Free and none of the Intuit BS.

Sad day...

So did everyone here get a new software or did y'all end up molding a boxed product into a custom product by the power of sheer outrage? Wanna go offline? open up excel 97, lol. If anything is constant, it's change.
