My main goal is to keep your Chart of accounts organized, Flopbot. I'm here to clear up any confusion about creating subaccounts.
QuickBooks Online allows you to add more than five (5) subaccounts under one main account. However, you can only create up to 5 sub-account levels (including the parent). For visual reference (what I'm referring to), I've added a screenshot below.

Hi, Flopbot! Thanks for coming back to the thread. Let me provide some clarification about managing your accounts in your Chart of Accounts (COA) in QuickBooks Online.
First of all, yes, you can rename the accounts in the COA by clicking the Edit button. You can refer to the screenshot below for guidance.
You can also move it around between different levels of subaccounts, depending on your business needs. 
Additionally, you can make a subaccount inactive by clicking the dropdown arrow beside the View register button. Then, select Make inactive.
Lastly, the option to delete an account in the COA is unavailable. This is true for both parent and subaccounts. Instead, you can merge accounts together by editing the Account name into the same one.
