For some reason between mid June and mid October, all my profit/expense activity is missing, even though there was plenty of activity around that time. How do I remedy this?

Hi there, @mkdoman.

I can help you with checking your income and expenses transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).

As an initial step, let's ensure that the correct period is selected to see the desired transactions. Here's how:

  1. Click on Transactions at the left pane.
  2. Select the type of transactions you want to display on the page.
  3. Set the correct dates.

If you're running a report:

  1. Tap on Reports at the left pane.
  2. Set the correct date (June to October), then click on View.
  3. The income and expense transactions will now be reflected in the report.

If there are still missing transactions, you can try logging in and out to QuickBooks to narrow down the result. Then, open the report through a private window. This browser prevents any virus infections that can cause unexpected behavior when using QuickBooks.

To save you time, use either of these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P

If it works fine, go back to your original browser and clear its cache to start fresh.

If the transactions are still missing, possible that they were deleted/excluded from your record. You can manually add them to supply the entries.

Thanks for this info.  I've done all of this and the transactions are still not coming up.  I can add these things manually, but this still doesn't explain why they are missing in the first place.  Quickbooks is linked to my bank account.  Why are they just missing?

Thanks for performing the steps that were shared by my colleague above, @mkdoman.

I've got more info on what's causing this issue.

Since you've mentioned that your bank is connected with QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), make sure that it's turned on in the Bank settings. Turning this off will also hide your transactions that are linked to it.

Let me show you the steps to check its status:

  1. Click the Gear icon and select Bank accounts.
  2. Locate the bank that linked to your mid-June and October transactions.
  3. If it's turn OFF, toggle the button to turn it ON.
  4. You can also click Refresh all to restore your bank connecting and update your transactions.
  5. Then, go back to the Transactions or Reports menu and check if the missing data are showing.

If they are still missing or if the bank account is already ON, contact our Customer Support Team. They have the tools that can review your account and trace the cause of this issue.

In the meantime, you can manually add your missing transactions to supply the entries.
