How can I get a report showing sales by Parent customer that include their sub-customer sales.

Parent customers pay for all the sub-account sales, so I need a report to show gross sales for the year by Parent customer for tax purposes. How can I get this?

@justinhschoen ,

1. Click Reports from the left sidebar.

2. Type Sales by Customer Summary in the Find Report by Name box.

3. Choose appropriate Report Period.

4. Click Collapse (just above the report title).

Does this include the collected tax on these sales?  I'm looking for totals not including the collected tax.

Thanks,

It's nice to see you here, Justin.

I can share some insights about the report you're looking for.

If you want to pull up a list of all sales with all other information for your taxes, I can help find a report for you. We can customize a Sales by Product/Service Detail report to get all the details you need.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu and find "Sales by Product/Service Detail" from the list or in the finder.
  2. On the report, update the Report period and Accounting Method.
  3. Tap the little gear on the report and mark the Taxable, Tax name, Tax amount and Taxable Amount boxes and all other tax filters you need there.
  4. On the same page click Class.
  5. If you're using classes to identify which sales are processed locally or through the internet, use the Customize button.
  6. Go to Filter then mark the Class filter.
  7. Once done, press Run Report.

On the report, you will notice that non-taxable items are blank in the Taxable column. Also, different classes assigned to transactions will appear there. See this:

How can I get a report showing sales by Parent customer that include their sub-customer sales.

Thanks you Jen_D for your response, but this is getting me what I need.  The "Sales by Customer Summery" report that is collapsed is the report I need, but I don't know if the figure here includes the total amount or just the taxable amount.

I need to know the taxable amount of each "Parent" customer.

Thank you again for your assistance.

Thanks for your prompt reply, justinhschoen.

Let me add some additional info regarding the report.

The Sales by Customer Summary report will only display the total sales for each customer. The customization of this report is very limited compare to the report shared by my colleague Jen_D.

What you can do to see the taxable amount for each parent customer is to select Customer from the Group by drop-down menu. This will group the report by customer's name and the total for each.

Here's a sample screenshot for a visual reference:

We also have two reports that you can run. Here are the following:

  • Taxable Sales Details: This will show your sales of taxable products and services. Includes the date, transaction type, customer, quantity, rate, amount, and balance.
  • Taxable Sales Summary: Your total sales of taxable products and services.
