How do I get reports from another state which aren't supposed to be under my to list and in my payroll tax list deleted? QB reps cannot figure it out.

I input a change of address into a terminated employee who had moved out of state 7 months ago,  for the sole purpose of the W-2 having the correct mailing address on it.  It generated a bunch of past due reports for that terminated employee for the state he moved to.  We have never had an out of state employee on our employment.  QB response is to notify IRS.  What?  Why would I notify IRS to inform them I am not completing a report I DO NOT NEED TO COMPLETE for another state?

Hello, PeggysueI.

understand how challenging it must be to encounter this issue while simply trying to ensure that the W-2 reflects the correct mailing address for a terminated employee.

I recommend contacting QuickBooks Online support. I recognize that you already called the support but they have the ability and resources

to solve such concerns like this and to get assistance in ensuring that the correct information is reflected in the system. Additionally, if you have concerns about notifying the IRS of the issue, you can seek guidance from a tax professional.

Ariell,

I had already contacted QB support 3x and wasted over 3 hrs on the phone with them during the busiest time of the year before posting to the community in hopes that someone would be able to help me, since nothing has been resolved by speaking to QB Support.   I will not be filing these out of state MN tax returns and I will not be contacting IRS as suggested by one of the QB support team that I spoke to.  This does not have anything to do with IRS, but everything to do with QB Support Team not removing these past due reports for MN off of my TO DO LIST and ACTION NEEDED list.  An employee who terminated his employment with us 7 months ago, moved to MN to accept new employment.  Last Wednesday, January 17th I changed his address in his "INACTIVE" employee profile to reflect his current and correct mailing address which is in MN.  It generated these reports for MN.  We have never had an employee living in MN while employed with us and we are not required to file any IRS reports for MN.

What is QB going to do to remove all MN reports off of my TO DO LIST and ACTION NEEDED list?
