I'm trying to make a report to track credit card balances and due dates, is this possible? Can't find any info online.

Hi - I've set up my cc liability accounts, and I want to be able to track the balances and due dates for cash flow planning. I can't seem to build a report with this info, any help greatly appreciated (wish it would show up on unpaid bills report, but alas, it's not technically a bill)

Thanks for sharing your concern here in the Community, cstarr.

The ability to track credit card balance due dates for cash flow planning is not currently available in QuickBooks Online. However, you can monitor your credit card balances by accessing the Transaction by Details Report. Here's how:

  1. Go to Reports at the left navigation panel.
  2. Search for Transaction Detail by Account Report.
  3. Select the Customize button.
  4. Under the Filter and Account, select All Credit Card Accounts
  5. Then Run report

Here's a photo for reference:

Once completed, return to the Reports menu and verify if you can locate Transaction Detail by Account. You can also refer to these quick guides on managing your reports in QBO:

Hi - this doesn't quite answer my question. I don't see due dates, and it lists all transactions instead of just balances. Help?

I'll provide more information and further steps to ensure you can see the due dates and balances, cstarr.

The Transaction Detail by Account report provided by my colleague shows your credit card account balances and due dates. These will also show all transactions entered in QuickBooks assigned to the specific account. Let's pull it up again and customize it to show more details.

Here's how:

  1. Hover to the Reports menu. Enter Transaction Detail by Account in the search bar.
  2. Click Customize. Set your preferred date period.
  3. Go to the Change columns section, and tick the Due Date.
  4. Pick Filter, then select All Credit Card Accounts in the Account dropdown.

If you're referring to your actual and real-life credit card account, QuickBooks does not have the functionality to display this information. I recommend obtaining a copy of your bank statement to view your current balance and due dates to achieve your goal.

Moreover, you can memorize the reports you've customized. This way, you won't have to do the customization process again.

Feel free to customize based on your specific needs. The steps outlined above will help you view your various information, including your credit card balances and due dates.  If you need further assistance, feel free to ask. Stay safe and best wishes!

I'm trying to make a report to track credit card balances and due dates, is this possible? Can't find any info online.

Hi - I followed these steps, but this still isn't quite it. It's showing the due dates for the bill payments made *by* the credit card, but it's not showing the due date the credit card itself with the balance.

I don't need the dates on the transactions - all I need is the account name/balance/due date of the credit card *itself* - and that's not coming up with this method.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this something not available in the report?

It seems since we put the due date in when we reconcile that information should be available?

Thanks for your time.

Thanks for following the suggestions above, Cstarr.

The Transaction Detail by Account report only displays the account's actual balance along with its associated transactions. If you're looking for the real-life balance and due dates of your credit card, this feature isn't available in QuickBooks. The system can only track the data you entered when setting up the account, including the beginning balance, its as-of-date, and associated transactions.

To find your actual credit card balance and due dates, you will need to obtain this information manually from sources outside of QuickBooks.

You can log in to your bank's online portal or mobile app. Most banks provide a detailed view of your credit card balance, recent transactions, and payment due dates. This is often the quickest way to get up-to-date information.

Aside from that, you can review the physical or electronic statements sent by your bank. These statements provide a comprehensive overview of your credit card activity, including the current balance, due dates, minimum payment amounts, and any interest charges or fees.
