I need my budget vs actual report to record the current one vs year to date totals. It currently gives you budget vs actual for the current month only.. help

Good day, @jan9.

I'm glad to have you here in the Community. I can help you run and customize the Budget vs Actual report.

  1. Click Reports.
  2. On the search field, enter Budget vs Actual.
  3. Go to the Report period field and customize the date.
  4. Click Run report to refresh the information.

To know more about customizing report, please check this article: How to customize QBO reports.

That should help you get the right report, jan9.

Keep me posted if you have additional questions about reports. I'm still here to help you further. Wishing you and your business continued success!

Can this report be run with the Current month and YTD? I've tried these steps, but the "Total" columns end up being the total for the month, not YTD. I found an alternate way to customize the report that gives me each month and then YTD, but my directors would like to see MTD and YTD budget vs actual, not every month.

Thanks!

Hello there, layna-e-diehl.

The report is unable to populate the total amount for MTD and YTD. I like your idea where we can run the Budget vs Accrual report total amount for the MTD and YTD.

I'll ensure to forward your suggestion to our product engineers. This way, generating the total amount for MTD and YTD might be given a chance to be included in the next product updates.

I'm right here if you have other questions. I'll help you figure them out! Have a good one.

MTD/YTD budget vs actual by location in columnar format is what i'm looking for and is a basic report continually required by management that should come directly from QBO.  Unfortunately, I have to download multiple reports for numerous periods, locations  then combine in excel vs giving the management direct access to run reports or email directly to them.  Although i'm very happy with QBO as a product reporting (and incomplete data..see comment below) is a shortcoming and hopefully this will be corrected soon.

Another limitation that adds to the pain I'm sure you're aware of is the location field isn't available to select in payroll or individually for split transactions so even though one can report by location all data doesn't pull in unless manipulated hopefully this is in the queue for correcting as well.

Thank you!
