Transaction statements are useful because you can send activity reports to donors, but don't need an amount due. It shows all activity from state to end dates that you choose.

I did all of these things- repeatedly- but it tells me that I don't have any transactions for any donors for the past year! We were set up last year using 'customers' instead of 'donors'. Now that I have changed the designation, does that mean it cannot see any of the prior transactions? It does recognize my list of 'customers' as 'donors' now.
I have tried this solution, thanks, but it does not give me any transactions for any donors for last year (or any time, actually). Would it not recognize the transactions of the donors that were made last year when they were labeled as customers? I just need a list of all the deposits from each contributor to send them for tax purposes! :-)

Yes, where it was set up last year under customers not donors at that time, it would pull as customers. You can run and print the Customer Transaction Statement report.

QuickBooks won't create proper donor statements with the required information on them. Instead, use our BRC Donor Statements - Desktop or BRC Donor Statements - QB Online app to create the statements, depending on your QuickBooks version.
