I sent my Accountant’s Copy on 12/30. On 2/2 I got tired of all the ads saying to “Update”. So I started it. I downloaded the file, signed in then saw the message that the current data needs to be updated and I would not be able to use the old files

I can see that you're having trouble accessing your accountant's copy, RVF1986. Since you've updated your QuickBooks Desktop, this is the reason why the file is no longer compatible to the updated product. To do this, you'll need to have another updated copy from your accountant. Let me walk you through the process.

First, may I ask if you have already imported the changes made by your accountant? If those changes are already integrated, you'll need to update your file to ensure it functions correctly in newer versions of QBDT.

Here's how:

  1. Open your original version of QuickBooks. Then open the company file you want to update.
  2. Press F2 to open the Product Information window.
  3. Look in the File Information section. Make a note of where you save your company file on your computer.

For step 2, refer to this article for detailed steps in updating your company file.

If you haven't yet imported the changes, I recommend visiting this article and following the outlined steps to learn how to properly use your Accountant's Copy within QuickBooks.

Furthermore, could you provide a screenshot of the specific error you're encountering? This will help us pinpoint the exact issue and provide more accurate support for accessing your data in QBDT.

In the meantime, I'd suggest logging into your company account as an Admin or running QuickBooks as an Administrator to see if these actions resolve any initial access issues.

Additionally, whenever there are unexpected errors while working on your Accountant's copy, feel free to visit this article to help you in resolving errors when creating or working on an Accountant's Copy.

I'm confident these steps will help you resolve the issues with your Accountant’s Copy and QuickBooks update. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, please feel free to ask.
