Is there a report that will show both the Tag and the Customer Type?

Hello, edenwillow.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) has a variety of reports that you can run and customize. One of them are the Transaction List by Tag Group or the Profit and Loss by Tag Group. With a little Customization to fit your needs.

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Enter the Transaction List by Tag Group in the text box.
  3. Set the reports Date range
  4. Click Customize.
  5. From the Rows/Columns Group by drop-down, select Ungrouped tags
  6. From the Filter mark check the Customer
  7. Press the Run Report

After you've done customizing the report, you may also memorize it so that you can use the selections you've chosen in the future.

I'm also adding these articles to  learn more on how to use tags and groups to get a better insights from QBO:

Is there a report that will show both the Tag and the Customer Type?

This is exactly what I did, but I am looking for a report that will show both the tag and the Customer *Type* (not just the customer name. I don't see a way of doing that.

Thanks for getting back here, @edenwillow.

Currently, running a report that will show both customer types and tags is unavailable. To help you with this, you can pull up Transaction List by Tag Group and export the report to excel to manually add a column for the Customer Type

  1. Open the Transaction List by Tag Group report by following the steps provided above.
  2. Then, click the Export icon and choose Export to Excel.
  3. From there, you can create a new column for Customer Type.
  4. To guide you on which type is assigned to your customer, you can pull up the Customer Contact List Report and add a column for Customer Type.
  5. Once done, click Run report.

Thank you for confirming that this is not available. I find it an endless source of frustration that Quickbooks online does not offer more flexible and comprehensive reporting and I hope they are interested in adding more capacity. Having to run multiple excel spreadsheets and use vlookup to pull data that should just be readily available is not a reasonable solution.
