Law firm bookkeeping

I do bookkeeping for a small law firm. They don't use any other software for client account management, i.e. Clio or Leap. Bookkeeping for both client and office accounts is regularly done in QBO. All are okay but when I try to see the client ledger for both the office and client side, it seems not possible in QBO. On the office side for a client, like- disbursement, and invoicing, office ledger balances don't show alongside client-side transactions in the ledger like in other case management software.

Is there any possible way out to get a combined ledger report from QBO? Please see the attached combined ledger generated from LEAP for a clear understanding of the issue.

Thank you.

I understand the importance of having a comprehensive ledger report for your law firm's bookkeeping, @Marufa0013. Thanks for providing a screenshot. I'm committed to exploring potential solutions to address the best possible guidance.

To generate a comprehensive ledger report, we can run two separate reports: one for the client-side transactions and another for the office-side transactions. You can then export these reports to Excel and combine the data into a single spreadsheet.

To export your reports to Excel from QuickBooks Online and download your data from your account, please see these resources: Export reports, lists, and other data from QuickBooks Online. Here's more information on working with reports that may come in handy moving forward: Reports included in your subscription.

Regarding the specific format of the combined ledger report you've attached from LEAP, it may not be possible to have the exact same layout in QBO, but you can customize reports and combine the necessary information to achieve a similar overview.

If you need more information, I have added an article that explains how to memorize reports in QBO for future reference: Memorize reports in QuickBooks Online.

Rest assured that I am here to guide you in obtaining the best financial report that suits your specific needs within QuickBooks Online. Your satisfaction is my priority. If you have any further questions or additional details to share, please don't hesitate to reach out. I look forward to working with you to achieve the optimal solution.

Thank you for the reply. I have done this as you suggested. Hopefully, there will be an option for a combined ledger under the section in the future. If this happens, it would be a great relief for the law firm while submitting the client report to law society.
