I get this message when I log into my QuickBooks Accountant account. I must have signed up for different accounts by mistake. My accounting firm data is under the "QuickBooks Companies" link (blacked out). How do I move it to the "QuickBooks Accountant" link?

I'll show you how to move the other company to the QuickBooks Accountant section, TA49020.

It's possible that you're the account's Admin or added as a user and added yourself as an accountant as well. If we want to move it into the QuickBooks Accountant company file, we can remove the Admin access. We'll still have the same rights as an admin so you can work together seamlessly.

To manage your access, here's how:

  1. Go to the company that's in the QuickBooks Companies section.
  2. Once logged in, click the Gear icon.
  3. Select Manage users
  4. Go to the Users tab and click the drop-down arrow to select Delete

Here's an article to learn more in managing our users: User types in QuickBooks Online.

If you need anything else, just leave a reply and I'll get right back to you. Stay safe!

I tried your solution, but there's only one user -- it's me as a Master Admin user.  I can't delete it.

I have the same situation with QuickBooks Accountant file.  I'm the only user and I'm a Master Admin.

Hello and good day, TA49020.

I've got a way on how you can add the company that is under QuickBooks Companies.

Here's how:

  1. In the Please select the company you want to open page, click the My Company under QuickBooks Accountant.
  2. On the left navigation menu, select Clients.
  3. Next to the message "We found 3 QuickBooks Online clients you’re working with that aren't connected to your account. Add them now to manage all your clients in one place." click the View button.
  4. Put a check mark on the company you want to add.
  5. Hit the Add button.

Please see this sample screenshot for reference:

Once added, go to the Gear and check if you have the Switch Company option. If not, then you're good to go.

Please let me know how it goes. We are always around if you need more help with this. Thanks.

On step 3, I don't see "We found 3 QuickBooks Online clients you’re working with that aren't connected to your account. Add them now to manage all your clients in one place."  Instead, I see the attached.  The blacked out portion is the only client I have.

It looks like we've subscribed to two different platforms in QuickBooks, TA49020.

Let's log in to the QuickBooks Company and add our Accounting firm. I'll show you how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and click Switch Company if we're in our Accountant account.
  2. Select the QuickBooks Online Company.
  3. Click the Gear icon and click Manage Users
  4. Go to the Accounting firms tab.
  5. Click Invite and enter the information we used in the Accountant account. Then, Save
  6. An email invitation will be sent to the email we entered and from there, accept the invitation and select the Accounting firm

If we're getting the same thing I suggest getting in touch with our Phone Support Team so we can look into your accounts. They can also screen share with you so they can walk you thoroughly in moving the QuickBooks Online company to the Accountant company.

  1. Go to the Help icon indicated with a question mark and click Contact us
  2. Enter a brief description in the box something like the having multiple companies and move QBO account to QBOA
  3. Click Let's talk and select CallGet a callbck, or Chat depends on how you want to connect with us.

Feel free to get back to me if you need anything else. Have a great day!
