How to add a second user to the account?

I am a Quickbooks customer and I need to add someone to the account such that they can photo snap receipts into the account, as well. I did click on the gear icon in my page and found the link to add a user on the upper left of the page but on the right side of the page I only saw the option to "Upgrade". I was told, just now, by a person from Sales that with my account I should not have to "upgrade" in order to add a second user. I did attempt to get to 'tech support" but due to the virus outbreak, tech support appears to be off line.

Hey thanks for the info miner_tom. If you're only seeing an Upgrade option this means you're on QuickBooks Online Simple Start. Simple Start does not have the option for more than one user. You will need to select the Upgrade button and upgrade to at least essentials to have multiple-users. Here's a chart with the difference between the plans if you need help choosing one. If you have any other questions I'm here to answer them.

Hi miner_tom. It's pretty quick and painless to add a new user to a QuickBooks Online account. Follow the steps below or read our article on managing users in QuickBooks Online if you prefer.

  1. Select the Gear Icon⚙, then Manage Users. If you can’t select this, you don’t have permission to manage other users. You need to be signed in as an admin. 
  2. Select Add user.
  3. Select the user type you want to create. More options will appear on the screen depending on the user type you select.
  4. Enter your new user’s name and email address, then select Save.

Now, just have the user log into their email and accept the invitation. You're all set after that. If there's anything else I could do for you, just let me know.

I can click the gear icon and then select manage users. But I don't see an option to add user. I only see an option to "upgrade". I would like to attach a screenshot or an image but I do not see that option in this forum.

 

Also, how do I login as admin for the online version? I don't see an option .

Hey there, Nicolei73. 

 

I'd assume you're referring to your office lady signing in as a User on the account? If that's the case, fear not, I have the solution! You'll have to follow a few steps to get on the right track but they aren't difficult.

  1. Click on the Gear Icon⚙, then the Manage Users tab. If you can't click on this, it is because you don't have permission to manage the other Users. You'll need to make sure you're signed in as an admin. 
  2. Click on the Add user button.
  3. You can select either Standard User or Company Admin. "Standard User" allows can give them full or limited access, without admin privileges. While "Company Admin" can see and do everything. This includes sending money, changing passwords, and adding users. Not everyone should be an admin.
  4. Enter your user’s name and email address, then hit Save.

This will send her an email, have her follow the steps in that email that prompt her to get set up and that's it.

I was invited by my boss to use QuickBooks. I got the link, made an account, and confirmed my account, but when I go to log in, it says that my email is not associated with any account. I'm not sure what we are not doing correctly.

I can see that you've already made and confirmed your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account. With this, let's do some troubleshooting steps to isolate your login issue and start managing the growth of your company. 

 

You'll first have to visit the Intuit Account Management page. This is to make sure your account is already saved and recognized by the system. Here's how: 

  1. Go to the Account Management sign-in page.
  2. Enter your phone number, email, or user ID.
  3. Click Sign In.

 

I've attached a screenshot below for your reference.

 

Once you're able to log in, let's go back to the QBO sign-in page and reset your password to refresh the system. Let me guide you how.

  1. From the QBO Sign In page, select I forgot my user ID or Password.
  2. Enter your phone number, email address, or user ID, then select Continue.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions. If you used your email address to verify your account, you'll receive an email with a password reset link.

I have tried this so many times but just get stuck once I put an email in and assign them a role.  It will not let me send an invitation.
