Thanks for getting back to this thread, jimmylud.

Let me provide additional information on running Income Tax Summary and Detail reports in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I'll also fill you in on why you can't see the option to run a Payroll Summary report.

The option to run Income Tax reports in QBO is not available. Therefore, I encourage you to submit a feature request through the Feedback section. This way, our product development team can take note of the need for this feature and consider it for future updates.

Here's how to send feedback:

  1. Click the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback under the Profile column.
  3. Enter your product suggestions.
  4. Click Next to submit.

As an alternative, you can run sales tax reports in QBO to get an overview of your sales tax details. I'll list down the steps below to generate the reports.

  1. On the left navigation panel, click Reports.
  2. Scroll down to the Sales tax section.
  3. Choose from the three available reports.

You can also customize the reports to suit your needs better.

Furthermore, I appreciate you for following the steps my colleague provided to run a Payroll Summary report. Please take note that you need to be subscribed to a QuickBooks payroll plan in order to do so.

I'll leave this article so you can see the available reports in your QBO subscription: Reports included in your QuickBooks Online subscription.

For future use, here's how to save a report's current customization settings: Memorize reports in QuickBooks Online.

Keep in touch if you need any more assistance running specific reports in QuickBooks Online. I've got your back. Have a good day.

Hey there, @jimmylud

It's great to see a new face here in the Community.

There are a few differences between the QuickBooks Online and Mac Desktop accounts. One of them being reports. With that being said, follow the instructions to create a payroll summary report in QuickBooks Online:

  1. Go to Reports and select Standard.
  2. Scroll down to the Payroll section, then hit Payroll Summary. You can also enter the report name in the search field to find it.
  3. Set a date range, then tap Apply.
  4. If you want to include or hide a specific detail in this report, click Customize then Run report.

This should do the trick. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. Have a wonderful day!

Thank you Candice-

Hmmm. Perhaps I didn’t frame the question properly.  It’s not a Payroll report I seek (the company is a partnership with no payroll).

In Desktop, you go to the Reports pull down to Accountant & Taxes, then down to Income Tax Summary and Income Tax Detail.  I use these extensively, especially now!  Where are these reports in QB Online??

And, yes, there is much difference between QB Desktop and QB Online — and not in a good way

Thank you for your response!!!

Cheers-

Candice-

PS- I did try your instructions below on the app.qbo.intuit.com/app/reports site, and I did not find a Payroll Summary report.  I must be missing something.. Sorry.

@jimmylud I am in the same boat and it is truly mind boggling that this was left out of QBO and the support you are receiving is to file a ticket to request added feature to QBO.

@AnneMariee & @Candice C To try and communicate the request @jimmylud is making, is there a report or custom report that can be run in QBO to show expenditures for each item in ones Chart of Accounts for a specific time frame, ie, last year.

Please advise. Thank you.

Allow me to chime in on this conversation and provide insights about a report that can show expenditures of each item for a specific time in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

In order to achieve this type of report, consider running a Transaction Detail by Account report and customize the needed details. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu from the left toolbar.
  2. From the report finder, type in Transaction Detail by Account.
  3. Click Customize and under the Rows/Columns, select Group by Product/Service.
  4. Select also these columns the DateTransaction TypeNameProduct/Service, and Account.
  5. From there, under the Filter, you'll need to select the Transaction type as Expense.
  6. Once done, click Run report.

Moreover, I'm adding this helpful article as your reference in memorizing reports in QBO: Memorize reports in QuickBooks Online.

Come back to this post if you have other concerns about running reports in QBO. I'll be here to lend a hand.

Now that its tax season, anyone know where to find the Income Tax Summary and Detail reports in QB Online- they were readily available in QB Mac Desktop?

As an 18 year user of QuickBooks Desktop PLUS I was just coverted to QuickBooks Online Essential and I absolutely MUST HAVE the INCOME TAX DETAIL REPORT.  Also the INCOME TAX SUMMARY REPORT.

I was told by the onboarding team that I needed to put in a request to have this developed?????

Why, it's been there since 2006?

Please help this frustrated customer.

I acknowledge that you want the Income Tax Detail and Income Tax Summary reports even after migrating to a different service, Desktop Pro Plus 203 User. I'll provide the available data you can instead run to help review your sales tax information.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) and QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) are separate programs with distinct features. Although some reports in QBDT are not available in QBO, the online platform also has reports that help review your income tax information. These are the Taxable Sales Summary and Taxable Sales Details reports. Additionally, note that the data can be displayed differently from QBDT.

Here's how to generate sales tax reports:

  1. Click Reports from the left pane and proceed to the Sales tax section.
  2. Choose Taxable Sales Summary or Taxable Sales Detail.
  3. Pick a reporting period to display information for a specific time range.
  4. Select Run report.

After that, you can modify them to ensure it meets your business needs. For more information, refer to this material: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, consider memorizing the report if you want to save the current customization settings of your report, which you may send on a recurring schedule via email.

We're here to help if you have other queries regarding the available sales tax reports in QuickBooks Online. Please return and leave a reply to this thread so we'll be notified in the Community.

Kimberly,

You are missing the point.  This has NOTHING TO DO WITH SALES TAX LIABILITIES.

It has everything to do with my completing my annual Form 1040 Schedule C.

I need these reports to do that.  Please acknowledge and will INTUIT provide these key reports or not?

Respectfully,

Very frustrated 18 year customer Tom
