Password reset QB 2019

Welcome to the Community, @lailaclaire.

I'm here to help you reset your password in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

I understand that you tried to reset and enter the necessary details twice. However, I recommend trying it for the third time.

If the issue persists and your QuickBooks Desktop is updated to the latest release, I suggest running the Verify and Rebuild tool.

Verify Data tool will identify the data issues of your company file. Rebuild Data tool will resolve the data integrity issues collated by the Verify Data tool.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Select Utilities.
  3. Click Verify Data, then select OK to close all windows.
  4. Then, go back to the File menu.
  5. Select Rebuild Data under Utilities.
  6. QuickBooks will ask you to make a backup before rebuilding your company file.
  7. Select OK.
  8. Once done, click OK.

Once done and you still have the same issue, you can run the Quick Fix My Program from the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Follow the steps below.

  1. In the QuickBooks Tool Hub, select Program Problems.
  2. Select Quick Fix My Program.
  3. Start QuickBooks Desktop and open your data file.

You can then try again resetting your password. Refer to this article for the detailed steps: Reset your password for QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

For future reference, you can click this link if you decide to upgrade your QuickBooks version: Upgrade your QuickBooks for Mac to a newer version.

Let me know if you have questions about resetting your password in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. I'm always here to help. Have a great day.

@lailaclaire

Try installing the trial version of QB Desktop 2020 to make sure. If the same error persists, consider to purchase a 3rd party password removal service.

I'm not sure why trying the pq reset a 3rd time would make a difference, but it solved it!
