Join nowI use RoboForm to save passwords/logins for many companies and other software besides QBks. This issue comes up in 2017 QBks version; set up new company; did not use log in or password; input data; backed up data; closed company. tried to open company; got the forgot password dialog> tried to exit out, cannot do that. restoring back up file does not get me any further.
To begin any computer work in any app, I log in to RoboForm.
Question: is there a work around to the password/log in using QBks?
Question: is there a work around to be able to restore the data backup file I made after all the data input?
Question: If I have to call QBks tech support for help, does anyone have the number I need to call?
Thank you to anyone who can give a bit of assistance.
Hello there, @Anonymous.
I'm here to help share information about opening and restoring company file in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
QuickBooks asked for a password when opening a company file especially if you have critical data (credit card numbers, social security numbers, employer identification numbers) entered in QuickBooks.
If you happen to forget the password, you can use the Automated Password Reset Tool to reset the password. For additional information about password security, you may check this article: Password security for QuickBooks Desktop.
On the other hand, there's only one option to backup the company file, it's restoring the back up. For additional reference, you can check this: Restore a backup company file.
If you need further assistance, you may get in touch with our QuickBooks Dekstop Support. For the support's contact information:

You already have a QB tool for this: QB provided a File manager, when you installed Accountant's Edition. It allows you to maintain a vault or listing for which clients use which year of QB and which edition and lets you keep passwords there, as well. It is installed in your computer, so you need to Launch it and use it.
