Quickbooks desktop pro 2021 payroll add-on options after May 31

I have quickbooks desktop pro 2021, not subscription, I paid for a year of payroll add-on in February, 2024. I can’t have any cloud based or online program as our internet is so poor. And I don’t want a subscription service. I use payroll for my three part-time employees to calculate federal and state taxes and to generate tax forms (although I usually have to transcribe them to submit them to our state). I write their checks by hand. This has worked for me and my very small business for years. I’m concerned that after May 31 I won’t get the appropriate updates for my payroll calculations. I would like to know my options. Also, I’m very frustrated about paying upfront for a year of payroll only to be told three months later that I can’t use that. And there is no offer by quickbooks to refund me the 9 months of payroll service I can’t use. That may warrant a call to my state attorney general

I have recommended 2 options for your case before. Regarding your Enhanced Payroll subscription, you cannot request a refund after 60 days from the renewal date.

Due to the discontinuation of QuickBooks 2021, any add-on services, including payroll, will no longer function after the end of May. 

 

You'll want to use a third-party app to help you run your payroll transactions. Then, manually enter them in QuickBooks after the fact.

Aside from that, you can utilize the Manual Payroll function in QuickBooks. However, you'll need to manually calculate and enter the payroll taxes, as well as handle the payment and filing of the tax forms yourself.

You'll also receive a prorated refund in July for the unused portion of your payroll subscription. We'll process this refund back to the credit card or bank account we have on file for you.
