Hi there, @jwin1.
Thanks for posting your first concern in the Community. The report for form 990 is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Online. The closest reports available would only be the 1099 Transaction Detail, Profit and Loss, and Balance Sheet.
I know it would be a nice feature to be added to the Desktop, I'll take note of this request and pass it along to our engineers. So there is no way to put the accounting into the new version of Quick Books tp get the info for the tax return. Is this in the works for this year or at a later date?
I can share some information about form 990, @Retha1.
At this time, Form 990 is unsupported in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I suggest you consult your accountant or financial advisor to help you prepare this tax form.

This report to file 990 is really important for nonprofits. It is NOT a nice to have. It is a must. Please add this item to QBO roadmap. When can we expect this to be in place? If this is not in the works, please also let us know so that we can migrate accordingly. Thank you.
Wow, no Form 990 reporting? This is a major show stopper for Quickbooks online. I really wish I knew this was going to happen when I switched from Desktop. Please put this VERY HIGH on your upgrade list.
me too. can't believe it is advertized as qb for nonprofits
When we purchased QuickBooks, the representative knew that we were a non-profit. After spending many hours setting up the Chart of Accounts, connecting bank accounts, and entering the appropriate information for every receipt over the last year. Now I have to complete the 990 by hand too.
This feels like a bait and switch tactic.
VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH INTUIT!!!!!
The salesperson knew that we were a nonprofit. Nonprofits have to file Form 990 yearly. How can QuickBooks not have this as a feature? I just finished setting up my Chart of Accounts, not an easy process in QuickBooks for "nonprofits", individually labeled every receipt for the last 13 months with the correct account and function, and just finished reconciling all accounts for the year. Now I have to manually re-enter the information into Form 990?
This is a classic bait and switch tactic!
Very disappointed with Intuit! Should have known since I had a similar experience with TurboTax.
Hello, ICMark62.
I understand how the option you're looking for will benefit your company. Currently, the 990 report in the QuickBooks Online version is not available.
I recommend sending Feedback to our engineers through our Feedback board. This way, they can review your suggestion and may consider it for future updates.
Here's how:

Has QB come up with a 990 report? I'm new to my company, first time working for a non-profit and I'm surprised there is no report for the 990 in QB. I read this thread and it's been over a year since the last post so I'm wondering if QB actually fixed this or not because I don't see a report in the Enterprise Desktop version we just purchased. I would hope QB is working on this because the 990 is important to non-profits.
Thanks for using QuickBooks, Sara. I'll ensure to address your concern about the 990 reports in QuickBooks.
In QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), filing Form 990 is currently unsupported in QBDT. If your organization or company qualifies to file it, I recommend working with an accountant or financial advisor to get more details about it. Otherwise, you can file it manually.
Additionally, if you want to pull up 990 reports to get information that will help you in filing the forms, you can do so. There are 990 related reports available in our program. I'll show you how.
If you want to get the most out of your reports in QBDT, visit this article for future reference: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.
Please get back to this thread if you have a follow-up question about Form 990 in QuickBooks. I'm always here to help you.
