You can install the trial version for QB Desktop 2022 to convert your Sage 50 file and migrate to QB Online. Otherwise, consider to purchase a 3rd party conversion service.

I understand how file backups might be beneficial to your company. allow me to share some insights about importing data in QuicBooks Desktop.

There's no need to start from scratch. Here's how to import your QuickBooks Desktop company file to QuickBooks Online.

1. Sign in as an admin to the company file you need to import.

2. Go to Company, then select Export Company File to QuickBooks Online.

3. Select Start your export.

4. Sign in as an admin to your QuickBooks Online company.

5. Select Choose online company, and choose the QuickBooks Online company you want to replace with your company file.

6. Select Continue.

7. If you track inventory in QuickBooks Desktop:

8. Enter Agree in the text field, then select Replace.

9. Select Yes, go ahead and replace the data, then select Replace.

If need backup file from QuickBooks Advance, you download the sample file by heading to the Settings.

Follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to your QBO account.
  2. Go to the Gear icon, then click on Import data under Tools.
  3. Click on Invoices.
  4. Tap on the Download sample CSV link.

I'm including these links for future reference while working on your QuickBooks account:

Hi Christine

Really appreciate the help. the issue is I don't have access to the data in QuickBooks Desktop. I only have the backup sent to me from QuickBooks online and I need to get that loaded into my QuickBooks online account.

Hope that helps further.

Reading below are you saying that the import "Invoices" will bring all the data into QuickBooks to include all the bank reconciliations and the balance sheet ?

By example I am a newbie to QuickBooks and very experienced in SAGE where you just "Restore from BackUp " and all the data is uploaded.

Hope that helps explain further.

Thanks Jeremy

Thanks for the clarification, @jemscott66-gmail.

I'm here to make sure to get all your data moved to QuickBooks Online.

Right now, there is no direct way of opening and importing this into your existing QuickBooks Online (QBO) account. You'll need to open the file in the Desktop version, then import it to QBO. If you no longer have the QBDT software, not to worry, you can install our trial version, where you can restore the backup copy.

Here's how to export the file:

  1. Restore the backup copy.
  2. Click the Company menu.
  3. Choose Export Company File to QuickBooks Online.
  4. Select Start your export.
  5. Sign in as an admin to your QuickBooks Online company.
  6. Follow the next on-screen instructions.

Here's a link with the details on how you can move your Desktop file to Online: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, here's how you can find out what data doesn't convert when you migrate from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.

If you have any other questions about uploading your file to QBO, please let me know by adding a comment below. It's my pleasure to help. Have a good one!
