Using 2017 accountants copy, why do the journal entries not show up in the accountants change file?

Hi there, @dparsons110.

 

Your accountant may email the journal entries. Thus, these are not included in the accountant's copy and you need to import them. Let me show you how. 

 

First, download the attached file from the email your accountant sent you, and save it in a folder you can quickly access, like your desktop folder. Please take note that the journal entries are saved as a QBJ file.

 

Once done, open your company file in QuickBooks Desktop to import the file.

 

Here's how: 

  1. From the File menu, select Utilities then Import.
  2. Select General Journal Entries.
  3. Find and select the QBJ file you saved.
  4. On the Add General Journal Entries window, you can select which entries you want to add to your books. 
  5. Click Add GJEs.
  6.  Hit OK.

I'm the accountant and I have made journal entries in the file.  In my other QB versions, the journal entries are part of the accountants change file to send back to the client.   In the 2017 version, the journal entries do not show up in the file that is sent back to the client.   Is there something I'm not doing correctly or is this just a 2017 issue and you have to send journal entries directly to the client?

The journal entries you've made to the Accountant's Copy are available if your client is using the same year as your QuickBooks version. In line with this, I'd suggest reviewing your client's version to see if this is the possible cause of the issue. If not matched with your version, you'll have to directly send journal entries to your client as suggested by MaryGraceS above. Once you're done making changes, other than journal entries, you can export the Accountant's Changes (.QBY) file to your client. Then, you'll have to work with him how he can import it to his company fileremove its restriction, and convert it to a regular company file
