I have a check dated 12/11/23. Since 2023 is closed out. How do delete this check now since we're in 2024?
Thank you.

QB should make this process much easier. QB should give you the option to choose the date with which the void is effective, but it doesn't. If you just click 'Void' on the check, QB voids the check as of the original check date. So, at this point, to void the closed-period check in the current period, make a deposit dated in the current period for the amount of the check and assign the same account to the deposit that was assigned to the check. The next time you reconcile, clear the check against the deposit and you're all set.

You can go to the Banking menu and click Use Register to view the check you want to delete, Beth1107. Let me elaborate on it in detail below.

Are you AI? Did you even read your customer's post? They want to know how to void (not delete) a check from a closed period. Your advice will cause changes to be made to closed accounting periods, exactly what your customer was trying to avoid.
Exactly! Thank you. I knew that would be the case and didnot follow their advice.
I to have this excate issue. Your answer however does not address the issue of VOID/Cancel check as this will be change the figures for the 2023 accounts which have been closed which I need to avoid. Have you looked into this issue further and if so do you have a solution please.
"Your answer however does not address the issue of VOID/Cancel check as this will be change the figures for the 2023 accounts which have been closed which I need to avoid."
The solution does address the issue - it has no effect on 2023. Create a deposit dated in the current period (2024 or 2025 as the case may be) for the amount of the check you want to void. This puts the cash back in your bank account in 2024/2025, which is what QB should allow you to do when voiding a check - it should allow you to choose the effective date of the void, but it doesn't so you need to create a deposit as of the effective date of the void. Then, issue a new check. Clear the 2023 check against the 2024/2025 deposit the next time you reconcile. Clear the newly-issued check when it actually clears.
