Welcome to the Online Community. The browser troubleshooting steps can help resolve unexpected behavior while using QBO.
Let’s sign-in first to your account using the InPrivate window or incognito mode. These features will not store the browsing data, search records, and cookies.
Here are the shortcut keys for each browser:
If you’re able to see the Gear icon via these sessions, clear the cache of your regular browser to speed up the browsing experience. Should this not work in a private window, I suggest using another browser to help narrow down the cause of this issue.
For future reference, here's an article that can help identify any issues with your browser's health and it's compatibility with QuickBooks Online: Health Checkup.

I have two quickbooks Icons on my deck top. one on the bottom toolbar and one on the desktop. When I try to login by using one of the icons the quickbooks administrator pops up, but when i type in the password it does not work. What am I doing wrong? Is there some other way i need to login to quickbooks online?
Hello, @719-551-9551! Hope your morning is going well so far.
It could be that the icon is linked to the wrong web address for QuickBooks Online. Has it worked for you previously when trying to log in?
Either way, let's start with checking your login information. That's done by going to accounts.intuit.com and logging in with your user ID and password. If you log in successfully, that means your credentials are correct and can be used to log in from your desktop. If that doesn't do the trick, go ahead and reset your password here: https://accounts.intuit.com/account-recovery.html.
You can also try logging in directly to QuickBooks Online in your browser by going to https://quickbooks.intuit.com/login/.
Please reach out to me here if you continue to have login issues I definitely want to get you into your account and back to business!
I don't have a Sign Out option in the gear box.
Let me help you sign out to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account, @wrad74.
In the latest update, the sign-out button can be seen when you click the letter beside the Gear icon that indicates the first alphabet of your first name. It's located at the top right corner.
A mini window will appear that will get you to the Sign out box.
Just in case you have trouble signing in to your account in the future, you can check this article for the specific scenarios and its solutions: Get help if you can't sign in to your account.
I'm always ready to help you if you have additional questions or concerns about your QBO account. Have a nice day ahead!

I have access my QuickBooks online through my iPhone, however, trying to exit I cannot see the gear in the right hand corner to click on. Does it not work on my iPhone?
Thanks for joining the conversation, @mbuckwald50.
Before we proceed, could you let me know if you’re using the QuickBooks Online (QBO) app or accessing it through a web browser?
Please note that the Gear icon referred to in this thread is only available when you're logged in to your account in a browser. If you're already using one and still can’t see it, let's perform some troubleshooting steps. Sometimes, the browser cache can store outdated or corrupted data, which may cause display issues in QBO. To rule this out, use a private or incognito window.
Here are the shortcut keys:
After that, log in to your QBO account and check if the Gear icon is visible. If it works, clear your browser's cache to remove the webpage data causing the issue. If a private browser doesn't work, use other supported browsers.
Please let me know how it goes! I'm here to help, so don’t hesitate to reach out. Take care!
