The 1099 report is empty for me. I am not surprised.
There are reports in the NonProfit desktop version that helps me fill out the 990 by line item. I had 990 line item numbers associated with P&L categories. The report built into the desktop version would print out the listing so i could fill in the 990. None of that i can find in the Online version. Why?

You are the second person at Quickbooks that has not read my question. I am not looking for 1099 or 990. I am looking for tax reports within Quickbooks Online that are identical to the tax reports that are in Quickbooks Desktop NonProfit.
Thank you for reaching back out, @financial2.

1 won't work because it doesn't set the expenses by tax item.
2 is blank.
3 doesn't exist in Quickbooks Online. Can someone look at the reports in Online and find the one that is the Tax report like the one in Desktop
I appreciate you for getting back to us here in the Community, @financial2.
The closest reports available in QuickBooks Online would only be the 1099 Transaction Detail, Profit and Loss, and Balance Sheet. I understand how the feature you need from the Desktop version is beneficial to your business.

I know this is an old thread/concern but I was wondering what reports you used in the desktop version to file your 990? Also, did you ever get a straight answer as to where they were in QBO?
Greetings,@tgrand64.
Welcome to the Community. Allow me to help you run the report where you can file form 990.
You can run the Statement of Functional Expense report and file form 990 from there. Here's how you can run the report:
On the other hand, you can change the company type into Non-profit in QuickBooks Online but the Statement of Functional Expense (990) report is unavailable.
Please feel free to post your concerns. Have a good and stay safe always!
Reading this thread was both comical and extremely disheartening. I am also looking for an easy way to run the Statement of Functional Expenses report that was readily available in QB Desktop, but glaringly absent from QBO. QBO "support" is a huge joke, made even more obvious in this thread from the multiple people who clearly didn't understand or read the original request.
For the record for anyone still needing to pull this information, I am using a Statement of Activity by Class report, (or you can do a regular Statement of Activity and then choose Classes in the "Display columns by" dropdown), then using customization to filter down to "All Expenditures Accounts" in the "Filter>Distribution Account" dropdown. It SHOULD be a very simple thing for QBO to add as a built-in report, but 2 years later we are still having to figure this out for ourselves.
It is absolutely unacceptable for there to be the option to set up your company as a nonprofit organization, and then not have the option to run a Statement of Functional Expenses report, especially when it it is offered in the desktop version of QB. Isn't the point of moving to QBO to increase efficiency and functionality? And yet, less reporting capabilities are offered in QBO than the outdated QB desktop products. I have been severely disappointed in QBO and this new revelation, along with the obvious lack of helpful support, has me considering switching back to desktop.
This is most unhelpful.
Please make sure that the Statement of Functional Expenses are immediately available in QBO.
This is most unhelpful.
You spoke my mind. Separately, would it be possible to share this report that you have created as a template? Thanks.
We have recently upgraded from desktop to QuickBooks online where are the federal forms for the 992 complete taxes
Hello there. It's nice to have you added to our QuickBooks Online (QBO) users.
As much as we'd like to guide you through your query, however, we need a few more details. Can you tell us what specific form are you looking for in QBO? Is the form intended for Payroll Tax, Income Tax, or Sales Tax? Any information you can provide will be a great help for us to determine your concern.
We're looking forward to hearing back from you. The Community team always has your back. Have a good one.
