Why are QuickBooks reports dated/timed in the Pacific Time Zone?

Hello there, @wmlipchak-comcas. I'd be glad to provide you with information regarding the time used in QuickBooks Online and how to modify it.

The date and time are recorded in Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) on our QuickBooks Online (QBO) servers. Thus, when running reports, QBO analyzes the time based on the QBO server time zone, which is the GMT. However, you have the flexibility to change the time zone within QuickBooks Online to match your company's specific time zone.

To modify the time zone in QuickBooks Online, follow these steps:

  1. In the bottom-right of your computer screen, right-click on the time and select Adjust Date/Time.
  2. window will open. On the left panel, select the Date & time tab.
  3. Under Change date and time, click Change
  4. Enter the time and press Change to update it.

Check out these resources that contain guidelines on running reports and customizing them:

Why are QuickBooks reports dated/timed in the Pacific Time Zone?

Perhaps your proposed solution is referring to QB Online used in a different web browser or computer system than mine.  I am using QB Online in the Safari web browser on an Apple computer.  There is no time in the lower right corner of either the browser or the computer screen.  The time that is displayed in the top right of my computer screen is correct for my current Time Zone, EDT.

We're glad to have you back here, @wmlipchak-comcas.

Thank you for informing us that you are using the Safari browser on an Apple device. We understand the importance of using the accurate time zone in managing your business reports. This additional information will help us better assist you.

QuickBooks Online works best with Safari version 12, you can check your browser's existing version and see if it meets the QBO system requirements. If it isn't, we suggest you update it and check if there are better changes on your end.

Normally, this should work, but if the issue persists, we highly recommend contacting QBO Online Support. This way, we can investigate this issue comprehensively.

If you have more questions, you can always comment down below. It would be our pleasure to assist you. Have a wonderful day.

Why are QuickBooks reports dated/timed in the Pacific Time Zone?

I appreciate the responses that I have received regarding this problem.  After more observation, I would like to clarify the problem since others may also have noticed this or be affected by it in the future.

All reports that are displayed on my computer screen, and all reports that are downloaded to a PDF, are correctly time-tagged with my local Time Zone.  Only reports that are downloaded to EXCEL are time-tagged in the Pacific Time Zone (GMT-7).  While the time-tag shown in Excel is technically correct, it can be confusing at first glance for us Easterners who don't typical do bookkeeping in the wee hours of the morning!

Why are QuickBooks reports dated/timed in the Pacific Time Zone?

Hi, @wmlipchk-comcas.

I'm glad that the info my colleague provided helps. Let me add insights into how time zone works with QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Every record is initially timestamped in GMT and later converted to the user's local timezone. However, when downloaded to Excel, the records will be shown in GMT instead of the user's local time.

Furthermore, we encourage you to share your feedback with our Product Developer team. They value user input and would appreciate hearing your suggestions. While we cannot guarantee immediate implementation, your feedback will be carefully considered for potential inclusion in future updates.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  4. Then select Next to submit feedback.

If you have any further questions about QuickBooks or anything else, please don't hesitate to reply.

Why are QuickBooks reports dated/timed in the Pacific Time Zone?

As I said in my previous comment, the Excel time-tag specifically shows "(GMT-7)" which is the Pacific Time Zone, not Greenwich Meridian Time.
