Reconciling Payroll Balance Error

Hello, 

I'm trying to reconcile my bank register for the past month in Quickbooks Online.  One of our employees deposited his check for more than it was written out for.  We're only talking cents, but I still can't reconcile my bank register for the month.  How can I just write it off? Thank you.

Reconciling Payroll Balance Error

Hi there, CM-EIC. 

 

Thanks for dropping by the Community, my recommendation to you would be to enter the correct opening balance and then you can proceed with the reconciliation. To do so, follow these steps:

 

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Select New.
  3. Follow the steps to create a new account. Give the account a name, an account type, and a detail type.
  4. Choose when you want to start tracking the money from the ▼ dropdown. Or learn more about opening balances:
  5. Select Today if the account you're tracking is brand new as of today. In the Account Balance field, enter the balance in the account as of today.


     
  6. If you started the account on another date, select Other. In the Select a date field, enter the date you want to start tracking money in the account in QuickBooks. In the Account Balance field, enter the balance of the account for the date you choose.
  7. When you're done, select Save and Close.

You can now add new transactions following your opening balance as of date.
